Then I was misled because people here refer recently to it as PBR rendering and the likes. While I know that Iray is physical-based rendering, I thought that DAZ Studio is slowly introducing its own PBR render engine, and the skin was just the first taste of it. Still, I have not seen one good render with PBR skin (for my taste), but I can be mistaken, as I'm not too fond of the Genesis 8.1 figures, aside from Torment and Kiko, but they are by nature a bit more stylized.
All other characters look like a step back instead of a step forward in realistic appearance,
PBRSkin, or the Improved Iray Skin Shader, as it's also called, is new for everyone, including PAs, who had years to figure out the last version of the Iray skin shader. But yeah, I'm not convinced that the PBR shader is an improvement overall. In most cases, it looks like the characters have too much foundation and not enough highlighter. :P
