Even after killing some hair density, the Ear Hair is pretty heavy for me. I'm going to have to tweak it a lot before I am comfortable using it.
Once again, another tweaked Kiko. (Mostly 65% Kiko, 35% Aiko again.)
I changed the mix on how I modified the Diffuse maps to throw into the Translucency channel (because I am not fond of the SSS maps), now +55 Brightness and +55 Contrast in GIMP.
Oh, and by the way, the reason a lot of dhair is sparse in viewport... consider how much trouble some people have trying to render it. Like you need that while trying to set up scene!
Okay, I could have sworn that the Maho outfit was a part of the bundle when I purchased......but it isn't now? Am I misremembering? That was why I went ahead and picked up the textures for it.
But it isn't part of the bundle now, and the outfit isn't in my library. Did they pull it out of the bundle?

I don't think the Maho outfit was ever even on the sales page and I never saw it in the bundle either. I only saw it on the main page where it shows like fast grab and stuff or if you clicked on the Maho outfit textures in the sales page, you could click on itfrom that page. I looked around for a solid half hour when the bundle came out as I was confused seeing the textures but not the main outfit itself.
They added the Maho Outfit to the Promo page later on in the day, but it wasn't live at launch... also, the Maho outfit wasn't ever part of the Bundle.
(I purchased the Maho outfit & textures as separate from the Bundle.)

That's the whole thing.....I almost always check the bundles I buy before I buy the textures (where you get a discount for buying extras, like the "buy 2 or more related") to make sure the outfits are included. It's why I'm even questioning it here. I would have only gone to the bundle page to see if the item was listed, or on the sales page where it (sometimes) shows all the items in the bundle. But I bought it just a couple of hours after it went up on the site.
So now I'm questioning if it got pulled afterward, or not (and I'm just not remembering that I forgot to remember to check that the outfit was included.) I could have sworn I did.
Yeah, the adjustment of line width and hair density is a great way to adjust. The further away the subject is, the lower quality you can get away with (to a point, and not all fur setups are as forgiving)
I've found 0.50-0.30 base and 0.10-0.00 tip to be pretty good at multiple cases. It looks thin enough but will mask away that its not fully thick.

I usually go to bed at 1:30, 2am CST, so one of the last things I do before going to bed is check what the new releases are before I hit the sack and the Maho outfit was never in the bundle, nor was it in the morning when I woke up and looked at it all again to see if the Maho outfit was included. That's an outfit that is something that I've been looking for for awhile so I was actively looking for it and would have put the bundle in my cart right away if I saw it as that would have been the tipping point on me buying it, but instead I just added a couple of items manually since it was never there. If it got added later in the day like The Blurst of Times says it was, I didn't see it, but up until about 11am CST, it was not listed.
Have you tried to enter in the "rendering settings---.tone mapping---> white point" and change the color from white to a tone of mild orange?
It helps a lot and avoids the re working on the skin. Just keep in mind that this trick also will tone down everything that is yellow/orange in the scene. ;)

The Maho outfit is used for the main store image for Kiko, so perhaps you saw the thumbnail on the bundle page and thought it included the outfit?
The release was a mess, anyway. The texture pack for Maho was released instead of the texture pack for Poison Love (the actual bundle outfit), but when it was noticed and reported, instead of releasing the Poison Love textures, the situation was "fixed" by releasing the Maho outfit. Leaving the Poison Love textures in limbo.
Probably two errors - releasing the wrong texture pack, then providing the wrong fix. But with Daz, who knows: Maybe the Maho outfit was actually intended to release separately - and not be a part of a second Kiko bundle - to squeeze a few extra bucks out of customers.
Edit: Cris just confirmed in the sales issue thread that Maho's actual release date is supposed to be tomorrow. So yeah - it seems they screwed up twice (wrong textures, wrong fix).

Wouldn't that affect other figures, though? I like tweaking the skin textures to be more internally consistent across the figures I use...
There's always a few ways to fix things. (Again, I don't think Kiko is the best figure for people who are just getting into Daz.)
Regarding the Maho outfit...
I was able to purchase it under the original sale banner for me, so I appreciate that mistake on their part.
I don't know if anyone noticed, but the skin texture for the legs & torso do not match and its easily noticeable to me in all of the promo images that show the skin in that area. I don't know if this was an error due to having slightly different surface settings or if this is due to the actual base color textures, but has anyone who purchased this character seen this in any of their renders?
I didn't buy either bundle, which seemed a bizarre mixture of items, just Kiko and another item to get the discount. An easy character to work with. I'm sorry some people find the hair resource heavy, on a 2080Ti it is two minutes to render the image below. There are bottlenecks with hair, and once you hit one, renders become long and flaky.
I added in a little bit of Edie for fun to make her seem more amusingly bad tempered. I reduced the translucency just a little to lighten the skin. No post. Kiko is a good complement for the White Priestess character, and I will try mixing them up.
Kiko 8.1 Crocodile Eastern Wind G3 Charlotte Hair.png
yes, as i have specified modifying the white point will infact affect the entire image, depending also on the saturation you choose for that setting.
A strong saturatd orange/yellow will turn everything into blue-ish, a very moderate saturation instead will simply dial down the skin tone to a more natural look.
It's only an alternative to modify the whole skin through the surface tab, nothing more. ^_^
I like Kiko too, but she is 8.1. And as long as DAZ Productions does not offer a stable DAZ Studio version and learns to clarify if the materials for assets are decent Iray shaders and not that PBR toon shader, I will not buy anything with an 8.1 tag.

Okay... finally spotted that one.
It's pretty faint, but it is there even in Texture Shaded.
...
Also, with the No-Brow option, the Face and the Neck (Head) surfaces don't align. There's another visible seam if you're looking directly at it.
I can probably cure that one by hand, but it should be addressed.
Here's my first shot at her, Out of the Box. She's fun and cute. Sorry to see all the problems with her though. Here's hoping they get things fixed quickly.
Okay, last time I'm doing Kiko until I get something from the support ticket. (I had this shot set up before I noticed the seams... but I did a little work on the seams, especially the face/head seam.)
So out of curiousity, is the poison love outfit supposed to not come with any materials?
There's a texture set with really good textures. There's even a set of snakeskin leather for boots and a skirt. Other leathers are black, red, and brown and the black is different than the default skin. Jackets come in shiney black leather, older black leather, and a green casual spring jacket

Not really happy with this but thought I would post it. It will probably be the only render I do with Kiko alone at 100%.

It's a lovely outfit with really nice textures.
This looks really nice. Also, which hair did you use?
Thanks!
Hair is Samira Hair for V4 and G3F by Outoftouch at Renderosity. (Sorry... just moving out of the sale bucket over there now.)

Does the tail come with easy pose control dials, or just bones? Still on the fence, but she is sooooo cute.
it does include easy pose controls

I know about texture addons, but from my experience there's usually at least 1 material option included in the main product.
