Grouping/filtering products in the Content Library

I would like to group product together based on a theme, a bit similar to what you see in the shop, and use this grouping in the Content Library.

For instance, I have characters, landscapes, clothes, etc. that I use for 'Japan/China' style creations.
Others would be mainly for 'Fantasy', 'Historical', 'European', 'SF', etc., while some would be in multiple categories.

It would be very helpful to be able to add a tag (or more than one) to a product (which then propagates to the parts/props) so I can limited the products I see in the Content Library based on these tags.
So if a product has a 'Fantasy' tag it should be hidden when I filter the Content Library on 'Japan/China' (unless I have tagged the product with both).

This will make the overview of items to use in a project a lot easier.
I do not want to see pickup trucks or cocktail dresses when I am working on a historical scene, they only clutter the library.

I know in theory this can be done using the 'Categories' structure, but that has to be set on each individual item. If a Category could be set on a product and everything it includes at once, it would do more or less what I am looking for.

Is there any other way to do something like this? I have been through the documentation and searched the forum but did not find anything.

    Thanks for your suggenstion cridgit,

The tagging part does not seem to work for me.
When I open a product I can select all assets in 2 ways:

    - click on a single asset, then do ctrl-A to select them all, then add the tag
-> but then the tag is only applied to the single asset I initially selected, not to the others

    - click on empty space in the asset overview, then do ctrl-A
-> then it is not possible for me to add a tag, the 'keywords' line is not editable

Could you verify whether it is working ok for you?

However, I did tag some assets to see how the filtering would work.
I added a new tag to 'Streets of Asia' and to 'Japanese Onsen' which are under the 'Props' in my Content Library in the picture below.

As far a I can find out, you can use the tags to search assets by selecting the 'database' option with the search field in the Content Library.
But doing this will show all assets with that tag in the assets pane, regardless of the library structure.
So it would help with a limited set of assets but not if you have hundreds...

My hope was that there would be a way to see only the products/assets with (a) specific tag(s) within the existing tree structure.
So in the overview below, I would like the 'Props' only to show those 2 tagged products.

Being able to use tags to filter what is shown in the tree view would be a great way to group items for different projects or event to mark and select you favourites.
Unfortunately this doesn't seem an option in the current product.
