Getting a transparant outline render
Hi all,
I'm trying to get a transparant render of my scene, showing only the outline of the items in it.
I knew how to do this once, but I can't remeber it right now.
I'm using the scripted render mode and the script I'm using is (obviously) outline.
Yet the render ( both in default and toon mode) shows up as the image I've included.
The result I'm after however, (in this case) is a render that would show the cube as if I was looking at it in wireframe... (right now, there's about three lines missing... And how exactly do I get that outline to be thicker?
Which step am I missing?
Thanks a lot,
Me

The result you're looking for should be the "Normal" output of the Outline render script. It produces 3 results: ColorID, Depth and Normal, that are saved where you specify in the Render setting.
I'm creating a Cube, then specify Scripted 3Delight and I get the useless Render but the following result in my directory, as Outline_Frm0_Normal.tif
With default settings elsewhere. Is this what you are looking for?
The result you posted looks like my ColorID result, if it helps :)
Allright !!
But still a little lost... Where do you specify the outline path?
And where do you specify the outline width?
Thanks a lot,
Me
Render Settings > Advanced > Render Engine > Scripted 3Delight
Outline > Renderer Options > Outlines > Normal for the outline width
and
Outline > Renderer Files for the path
Daz Forums won't let me publish a new image right now...
Now it does.
Thank you !!!
Awesome !!!
I keep trying to render the outlines like you have done and my program renders with white lines instead of black. Changing the line color setting in outlines has no effect. Any ideas what is going wrong?
I remember this happening for no obvious reason (I'm pretty sure there is one).
I simply went to the color and switched it back to black and it would work. Are you sure you are changing the correct color thingy? Change all of them to be sure :D
Worst case scenario, since I was already in Photoshop I simply inverted the result.
It must be a bug. The color settings have no effect for me at all. No matter how I set them the rendered files are always white. Maybe I can find a plugin that will do what I want.
FlyingBaloo, I really like those images you posted. Have you done any full length comics with that style?
I haven't tried a full story, no, and I am going a different way as far as "comic-style" renders go.
PWToon and line renders can be pretty efficient with similar elements (style, textures, etc) but become problematic when using a lot of different assets. I turned to using better light, which can bring homogeneity to all assets - and then work the style in PS Elements.
I got a question to ask, regarding creating outlines. Is it possible for me to create outlines of a fully-clothed figure (including edges on the body and clothing - but make the body and clothing transparent otherwise by setting opacity to 0%, but keeping the Draw Outlines and Draw Internal Lines set to on - all in pwToon?
