Does the Bridge even work properly for 3dsmax?

 

Here's what I get when I try to import the  Genesis 8.1 Male default character.

 

He's missing all the rest of this textures and the Face Controls are there but they do nothing. 

 

It doesn't look like the face has  been set up at all.

    I actually worked out how to fix that after a lot of trial and error. Go to each bitmap that feeds the texture, right click on it and change the type to bitmap (can't remember the full name). It already says bitmap, but somehow changing this fixes it. Usually there are about 5 textures to change and it is done.

    Got to say. This is a bit disappointing. the Max bridge seems to be abandonware. I was quite excited when I discovered this, but it looks like there has been no real support for a year, textures in materials seem to be broken. It's not a difficult fix to swap the material properties yourself, but a time consuming one.

    Since blender is free and has a bridge of its own, I thought I'd try that. I was blown away, its properly supported and everything looks great out of the box, just like it should. Its a shame one has to learn an entirely new application. It renders great but the workflow feels kind of clunky compared to Max.
