Daz to Unity not working

mjdj1999mjdj1999 Posts: 3
April 2021 in Unity Discussion

I have used this bridge about a week ago with no issues but now when I try to File>Send To>... I have the option to send to Bryce... or Send to Hexigon. There is no Unity option. Daz to Unity is installed and when I try to open it in DazCentral, it just opens Daz Studio and nothing happens... I have shut everything down, rebooted and re-installed the bridge and I get the same thing. Am I missing something?

You need to save the scene in Daz Studio before using Daz to Unity bridge.

Choose item/character in Daz Studio, open Unity Hub, create or open the project, preferably with High Definition RP.

Go back to Daz Studio, be sure that the item/character is still selected.

Go to: File, Send To, Daz to Unity

Put checkmark in "Enable Morphs" if you wish to send morphs over the bridge

During first transfer put checkmark in "Install Unity Files"

In the field "Unity Assets Folder" click on ... and browse to the Assets folder of the project in Unity, to select it.

Click "Accept", wait until conversion is finished in Daz Studio, then switch to Unity editor view.

Click on "I made a backup..." in Unity, if you get such pop up.

Wait until transfer is finished and enjoy your item in Unity.

Still doesn't work. I saved the item then saved as "Scene" as well and still no Unity option.

Just tested with Sluggo - https://www.daz3d.com/sluggo-for-bullwarg-hd

and it still works for me.

Actually, I did not know, that Daz to Unity bridge transfer posed characters,

so I can render them in Unity directly - how cool is that.

Artini, what version of Daz Studio are you using? Are you seeing the normal maps etc being attached to Sluggo's character materials?

I restarted Daz again and was able to use the bridge for Unity but not Maya. My character didn't come out as good as yours though...

    Hi,

I'm also having problems with the Unity bridge. I'm using Daz 4.15. It doesn't appear when I click "send to", all I see is Bryce and Hexagon. Any help would be appreciated.

It won't help - the issue isd likely to be an issue with Daz Studio 4.20.0.2, which prevents itfrom saving the session layout on clean or cleaned installs - includign the custom action to launch the bridge. This post explains how you can work around that, pending a proper fix, and if you then reinstall the bridge it may work.

Where is the post please that explains the work-around?

I'm unsuccessfully trying to install the Unity bridge - It installs. but no menu shows up.   It did one time early on, after un-installing it, now it does not 'successfully' re-install. Well it installs into the plugins folder but I cant see any menu show up inside Daz.  Tried everything including running the utility script to update and merge menus etc..

Could it be because my DAZ (latest version) is installed to D:/Program files instead of default C:/Program Files...

Anyway, can you please post to the "work around" thanks.

    Hello !

Unhoppely nothing work for me... XD

Daz to Unity is instaled but there is no more install Unity file option. Is it normal ? My latest bridge of DazUnity is 2.0 and Daz 4.15

(PS: i tried to do the famous Read The F...... Manuel but the only thing i found was the readme txt file i put in attachement file).

When i try to import on Unity, the Unity file (scripts, ressources, etc) seem's to import themself (so i guess there is no more option install Unity file to turn on), but the fbx model is not imported.

    1- i have selected a regular model G8 M/F in my scene

2- Asset Type ->Skeletal Mesh / Static Mesh (nothing work)

3- Enable Morph On (i try to import the morph leg,arms,G8....) and off

    4- EnableSubdivision On and Off

5- Advanced Settings On and Off

    FBX Version 2014 Binary

Same for the import of the DaztoUnity file, on Unity,  the bridge version seem's to be out of date to the latest version. i got try with the Unity 2020 3.15f2 and 2020 1.5f1.

Up to which version does it work ?

(i'm instaling Unity 2019.4 as they suggest on the website to look if it's getting better. i keep you tune if there is any solution)

    Best regards

    Interesting.

I use Daz Studio beta (4.20.1) and everything is working very nicely with recent update of Daz to Unity bridge.

Finally we got shaders for URP, standard and improved HDRP, which is awesome.

Please keep experimenting - the results are very nice.

    Hi rockit,

The DazToUnity Bridge UI has been slightly re-organized:  The Unity Assets Folder (aka Project Folder) is now the first line at the top instead of at the bottom.  This is to remind people that verifying you have selected the desired Unity project is the first step you should always take when using the Daz To Unity Bridge... maybe I need to put a big STEP 1: next to it.  smiley  Anyway, I notice in your screenshots that your Unity Assets Folder path is not the typical path to a Unity Project folder.  Please set the Unity Assets Folder to your Unity Project's Assets Folder.  This is the same process as with previous versions of DazToUnity Bridge.  You may see there is a new option that is in the same place as where "Install Unity Files" would be: immediately below the project folder path (Unity Assets Folder).

If the Bridge detects that Unity Files have already been installed, the label will change from "Install Unity Files" to "Overwrite Unity Files".  You have already updated the Bridge in Daz Studio, but you must also "OVERWRITE Unity Files" to update your personal project folder as well.  This will put the latest UnityPackage installers for HDRP, URP and Built-In pipelines into the "Assets\Daz3D\Support" folder.  The HDRP Installer will be automatically run -- that is the window you see in Capture5.png.

If you are using another render-pipeline, you will need to go into Assets\Daz3D\Support and manually double-click that correct file (either URP or Built-In/Standard Shader files).  On the Import Unity Package Window, you must also click Import Files at the bottom, otherwise files will not be updated.  If you are using Unity version greater than 2019, you will then get a pop-up dialog asking you if you want to Update Script API.  You must click YES, otherwise the scripts will not run.  This behavior is exactly the same as with previous versions of the Unity Bridge.

Once you have updated script API (if necessary), the model should automatically import (but only if you have selected the correct Unity Assets Folder for your desired Unity Project).  If not, you can manually find the DTU in your Daz3D folder and click "reimport" or just do the Send To DazToUnity from Daz Studio again, and it should autodetect and start your import process.

Hope this clears up the confusion!

Hello, I never leave these kinds of comments but I wanted to mention that in addition to this I was getting the same error for a while and didn't understand why--  As it turns out it was because I was trying to import my Daz Character to a 3D project and not a (HDRP) folder so I was getting the error: Assets\Daz3D\Scripts\Editor\DTUConverter.cs(2594,4): error CS0234: The type or namespace name 'HighDefinition' does not exist in the namespace 'UnityEditor.Rendering'

So basically the type of project you have matters and if you open up your 3d project and don't see a Settings folder-- you're likely importing to an incompatible project.

    Hello,

First of all a huge thank you for the time and the patiance you took to help me in the Daz to Unity quest.laugh

I've been 2 day's to look at the script of the import of daz file in Unity, and yes you're right. The bridge look only the reglar way (C,D...:\Unity...) but even with the good way the option Overwrite unity file was lock, and same for the Support file, he was not unpackage (bug)... So i had uninstall and reinstall everything (2 times...and the second i clean registry before install everthing) and took an older version of Unity (2019.4.39f1) because a had other problem with HDRP....and IT'S WORK !

I will try with the latest of Unity to how it's gonna go !

Thank's a lot to you danielbui78 ,Artini and winmath

i figured it out!!! okay so first you need to search each drive you have for daz studio "you have more then one install' i promise you do look... then followo the folder path to here  D:\Applications\64-bit\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\docs    this is how i installed mine your will be different .. search each intall that you have  until you locate dzunitybridge.dll right click select copy  now  go to start daz dazstudio right click select open file location   then find the  D:\Applications\64-bit\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\docs (yours will be different) paste the dzunitybridge.dll then selcet back arrow select plugins folder and paste the dzunitybridge.dll  as well  close all folders and daz re launch then go to send to  and BOOM daz to unity is there  mic drop!!!!!
