DAZ Math Confuses Me ;)

I'm curious about the reasoning behind these bundle discounts offered when someone owns a portion of the bundle's content. It seems entirely arbitrary and generally not in favor of the customer. For instance, I'm offered 15% off of the Gargoyle bundle that was released today since I already own the Mansion. However, not only does that product represent 25% of the total products in the bundle, it's the most expensive one, so it represents a little over 35% of the bundle items' total summed together. Even worse, this discount is only available during the initial release, so if you decide to buy those items later, you just get the privilege to pay for the item over again. It feels a little like being punished for being a good customer to me, and really does weigh more and more on my overall opinion of DAZ each time it happens.

This is hardly the worst example. There have been some of those big bundles where I owned most of them and got something like a 30 or 40% discount. I think in one case, if I wanted to purchase the single item in a bundle that I didn't already own, I could get it without the bundle discount for a tiny fraction of the price of the bundle even with the introductory discount. Sometimes, it makes me laugh, but sometimes, it really does offend me.

DAZ is not doing the math as that would be to complicated to code.

BUT seems that people owning several items in the bundle are also offered 15% discount, so no equation or formula!

I wonder if they decide the discounts based on what you paid originally.

For example, if you add up all the full prices of the items in the bundle and then take the full price of Albert Mansion, then it is indeed about 35% of the total, as you say.

But in my case, I paid $10.38 for Albert Mansion when I bought it (because of discounts). With the bundle priced at $57.90, that $10.38 is about 18% of the total. DAZ offered me a 15% discount on the bundle. It might be nice if they'd rounded up, but certainly 15% is a lot closer to 18% than to 35%.

I don't know if that's actually what they're doing. I'd need to be able to look back at more examples of past discounts and then compare them with my order history to be sure. The only other one I have currently is a 15% discount on the Dystopian Rider bundle because I own Juan Carlos 8 ... but I bought JC8 as part of another bundle, so I don't know how much I "really" paid for him (and I don't envy the DAZ mathemagicians who have to figure this stuff out).

I guess the real test would be to find two people, one who bought Product X at full price, and another who got it for $2.99 in the March Madness sale, then see what discounts they each get offered when Product X shows up in a bundle. Or we could just ask, but I suspect DAZ might not tell us.

I think the discount is arbitrary or one size fits all. Not really tempted by the 15% discount, already passed the phase of buying everything thrown at my face
