Scene merging and render settings

ps2000ps2000 Posts: 278

So I have some fantastic promo lighting scenes from paper tiger which I want to use to light my scenes.

But unfortunately If I merge my scene into the promo lighting scene the render settings get replaced with the ones from my scene and I don't want that.

On the other hand if I merge the promo lighting scene in my scene the renders settings of my scene don't get replaced with the ones from the promo scene.

Has somebody an idea why that is so?

I don't want to manually change all the settings/hdri image.

It's because the scene has nodes for Tone mapping, most likely, and perhaps some of the other settings nodes. You could delete those (which make the scene use default values) if you are going to merge it into another scene anyway. The reverse doesn't happen as the old scene doesn't have the Tonemapper etc. nodes, so those already in the scene don't get changed.

So you mean that my own scene has these node settings and because of that it changes the render settings if I merge it into the promo scene?

The promo scene doesn't have these notes so it doesn't change any settings if I merge it in?

Where can I change/delete these nodes?

    Thanks

A feature to include, exclude, or ignore tone mapping, render settings, and scene lighting or any combination of them during a merge would be nice to have.

ps2000, you should put a ticket in for a feature request.I thnk it's a good idea.

You could also load your scene in it first, then merge the lighting scene into it and it will replace your setting with the new ones.

But that's exactly not the case like I have written in the first post. Merging the ligthing scene into my own scene doesn't change the settings/hdri image.

Have you tried just double clicking the light promo to load it into your scene instead of merging them? They are light presets so should then change the light settings in your scene to the promo settings.

Theya re listed in the Scene pane. If you don't want them at all just delete them, with texture Sahded preview to make sure they don't regenerate, and save. If you do, use File>Save As>Scene Subset to save with a new name and select everything but the ... Settings nodes.
