I hope this is the right place and okay to post this. I know many use Daz assets in Unity and Unreal and have gaming licenses for game creation.

Houdini free for Unreal and Unity engines. You can check out the information in the video below.  This is a powerful 3D program used in the entertainment industry and now available free in these two engines. For those who use Daz assets in Unreal and Unity, you can now add Houdini for use in those programs to further your work.

    In case you didn't know, Houdini is also available for free as a stand-alone program.

    yes Apprentice but this implication in Unity and Unreal apparently has extra stuff Apprentice hasn't 

    however it is also my worst nightmare,  all node based!

    Houdini is certainly its own beast. There are some really good basic tutorials on the Houdini website. It can be a little difficult to parse the presenter's thick Indian accent, especially the singularly strange way he pronounces a few specific words, but they really help demystify Houdini's workflow.

    I assume you also know about the access to Bridge, Mesh Mixer and Megascans
