The OP render and information in the first post are inaccurate. The manipulated morph image does not represent default Genesis 8 and 8.1 and should be removed.

That's not what they look like. It looks like you have another character morph that's corrupting your base G8F (a character morph that autoloads with any G8F characters).

It is always important to correct errors. The butt ugly characters were a problem on your end. Your posted images are false and manipulated, so who would waste time reading an inaccurate article.

just edit your OP then, unless you like dealing with the fallout constantly.
Hmm. One thing I noticed in my renders is that while I only use G8F instead of G3F, and a G8F version of V7 concerted using RiverSoftArt's script, never once have I used V8. She's about as nice as V2 in my view.
That was an aside.
Looking at the renders above, regardless of an accidental morph inclusion into both, the skin - which is the real thing I'm concentrating on - shows a huge difference. The V8.1 skin is much more like my skin when the temperature is adequate. At the moment, the white, waxy V8.0 skin is an accurate representation of my frozen hands, and I'm not sure I like admitting that. I can see that V8.1 is a significant upgrade. However, I don't think it's for me yet. Will allow others to find the cracks and get round the issues first. My preference is for first adopters to take the pain instead of me..

The skin shaders look interesting, but there's too much about the rollout that makes me want to hold off. I'll probably wait until March Madness and see how things have progressed. Vellus may be part of base G8.1 by then, too.
So it's the 8.0 character that is too bright, and the 8.1 character is not too dark? Because it would suck if adjusting exposure for Victoria 8.1 meant every character released before 2021 comes out too bright in the same scene.

I wouldn't deem them too bright, or too dark. Skins can be adjusted to look in a variety of styles.

Yeah, the V8.1 skin sure seems to suck in light. But so does real skin. And yeah, some adjustments will be needed if you have mismatched skin shaders in a scene.

Not sure if anyone else has announced this yet, but since it's been a hot topic: we have been told that the Velus etc. hair will be added to the Victoria 8.1 Base for new and existing purchasers sometime today. It will also be included with future 8.1 base characters.

The nails of V8.1 seem to have dirt under them if you zoom in. Does the plain G8.1 have new skin and nails too? I’m not really into V8.1. I have never even used V8 because I didn’t like her looks but I sometimes mix a bit V7 for V8 into characters. The skin looks so dark on all of these which makes me think that all future lighting needs to be adjusted.

Thank you for the accurate comparisons, 3Diva.

Uh-huh, which is why they are being fixed.
I am expanding upon the comparisons rendered atm, all the renders on the article are now accurate.

Article updated, and even more renders added. The freak morph issue should be resolved now.

Sevrin, from another thread...
I think I like it. It feels more natural to me.
