Tax Rate

Out of curiosity, what is the tax rate supposed to be? I have to be honest, but I never paid much attention before. I mean, I noticed when it was added, but I didn't really look at the amounts. Today I just noticed that the tax for a $14.25 purchase is $1.85, which is about 13%. Doesn't seem right. Without discounts, the purchase amount is $39.90, and $1.85 tax on that is under 5%. Seems like the correct tax rate to me, but that shouldn't be the case.

Anyone else want to weigh in here? Is it just a one-off glitch? Another bug from the new store?

    I live in Wisconsin, where the state tax rate is 5%. I guess in Utah it's 4.85%.

    I also went back and spot checked my previous orders, and the tax amounts seem to be correct.

    The other store charges tax on the pre-coupon cart price. Broadly, looks like we get screwed on tax. Should be at least state tax but only on amount paid. Maybe Daz store is still woking it out.

    No coupons in play here, just sale prices.

    Ironically, here on Daz, I have not had any tax charged to me. I assume that will happen soon enough.
