Question regarding sorting DAZ Content (My DAZ Library)

Ok even though i fear the answer i will ask anyways.

I used to have 2  'My DAZ Library' folders. The one that uses and the one located in your user profile. I moved everything from my user folder to the main folder so I have everything in 1 place as i kept swithcing back and forth in search of something.

Now i am working on a (large) Sci-Fi project and it would be nice to have a My DAZ Sci-Fi Library. So I will have to go trough my library once and everything i deem usefull as a sci fi asset i move there (Maybe with the exception for hair). This will obviously drop my search time considerably.

Here is my question:

In the folder environments I have s sub folder called "Sci-Fi Building". If i move that folder to the environments folder in "My DAZ Sci-Fi Library" folder. Will it still work. Often an asset comes with multiple folder for textures/morphs etc. Do i need to move those as well or is DAZ 'smart' enough to look in other places?

Thanks in advance.

  • Yes, it will still work - DS checks each of the content directories in turn when a file is called, and the references to files in content directories are relative (they give the location within the content directory, ignoring which and where it is). That said, a simpler way of doing this would be to use categories - you can categorise files or folders by right-click in the Content Library pane.
