You really don't. Autofit doesn't work well with shoes. Flats work the best, but there is still warping and distortion.
If you are not getting the option, then you are missing a clone. You could try one of the converters, but I never had much success with them

doesn't take all that long and it's rather easy.
I've been able to convert clothing from G3 to G8 and vice versa using the manual method and the RSSY converters...but shoes...not so much. Even the flats still end up wonking out at least a little, which is a no-fly to me.
Shoes are the one thing that rarely convert/autofit well. I've bought some autofits overtime only for the included shoes, because I didn't have something like that for that specific figure.
It's probably faster to add the figure the shoes were meant for into the scene, give it the exact same pose and placement as the figure you want to render, add shoes, then hide the figure. Or just manually position the shoes within your scene without any figure wearing them.
