Any Quicker Way to Load These Figures?

I have a lot of Genesis 8 female figures.  Probably too many.  I say this because it takes me 4 minutes and 20 seconds to load one of them.  I'm going to assume it's because I have 220 Genesis 8 female figures.  By contrast, I have 38 Genesis 8 male figures, and they load up in around ten seconds.

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on what I could do to cut down on the load time for my Genesis 8 female figures.  Thanks!

(If it turns out to be something really simple, don't judge my numb-skull-ed-ness.  It's late and I'm over-full of early Thanksgiving food.)

    I think morphs take a while to load. You could try uninstalling any you don't use all the time.

  • I like to have materials of all the figures I buy still available, but what I do is create a new folder with the same path, data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs, and then transfer the ones I don't plan on using into that extra folder. If I ever want them, I can simply add that folder in the Content Directory Manager and reload G8F.

    I believe you can divide your characters and their files into different directories. Somewhere recently this was discussed and you might be able to find it with Google as the bots scan this forum frequently. I only use a handful when needed so I really can't give you specifics.

    Load times are caused by morphs. If you have that many figures, you probably have morph  including expressions and other stuff in your data folder taking up your load times.

     Try pruning the data file for your g8f/M figures to whatt you use regularly, and then create a second daz studio folder for things you only use occasionally. Map that drive when you need it. It will load much faster if you do some pruning.

    I can smoke a fag in 4 minutes and 20 seconds (British context). Some scenes I have made take a full 5 minutes to load. Doesn't bother me a bit. Good things take a while to happen.

    Without the logfile it's difficult to tell, but if 220 character add-on:s takes over 4 minutes to load, you probably have a number of warnings in the log - Fixing the conflicts/problems should speed-up the loading considerably.
    The alternative is to start uninstalling the morphs and characters you have installed for G8F

  • Thanks for the responses.  And PerttiA is right--I DO have a lot of warnings in the log.  They seem to come in three flavors:  "Got an unknown command from the persistent connection", "Could not find target property for formula" and "Could not find output property for formula".  I'm attaching a copy of the log.

    Is there someplace you can direct me toward that might guide me through fixing these warnings?  Thanks again!

    I end up with so many extraneous characters and expression packs that I'll never use from buying bundles, that I've gone through and uninstalled all the ones I'd never touch. Going forward, I skip them entirely and don't even bother with an install. That saved me a lot of time. My G8F load time is right at about 30sec.

    Ok, obviously you are usin DS in online-mode and with the current server problems, you are getting lots of connection related warnings and problems => Use DS in offline-mode and those will go away.

    An example of tracking down the warnings;

    2020-11-24 06:22:57.045 WARNING: ..\..\..\..\..\src\sdksource\fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(6777): Could not find output property for formula: Genesis8Female:/data/DAZ%203D/Genesis%208/Female/Morphs/SF-Design/G8FBreastControl/SFD_G8F_BC_UnderShapeSm.dsf#SFD_G8F_BC_UnderShapeSm?value in file : /data/DAZ%203D/Genesis%208/Female/Morphs/AlFan/Fatal%20Stranger%20HD/Fatal%20Stranger%20Body.dsf

    The above reads: "While reading the file "Fatal Stranger Body.dsf" (%20=Space), DS found a reference to formula "SFD_G8F_BC_UnderShapeSm" that should be located inside file "SFD_G8F_BC_UnderShapeSm.dsf", but cannot find it." - Meaning DS cannot find either the formula it is looking, inside the file it is looking for it, or it cannot find the file where the formula is supposed to be located.

    It may be that the file "SFD_G8F_BC_UnderShapeSm.dsf" belongs to a morph package that you don't have (SF-Design/G8FBreastControl?) or there is some problem with or inside the file "SFD_G8F_BC_UnderShapeSm.dsf"

    You have four options;

    - Check for updated/fixed versions for the products
    - File a ticket and wait for an update/fix
    - Fix the files yourself
    - Uninstall/remove the products that are causing warnings (in the above sample "Fatal Stranger")

    You didn't have that many Character/Morph related warnings, which leads me to think that most ot the 4min 20sec is due to DS trying to connect to DAZ servers => Start using DS in offline-mode and see if that helps.

  • Thanks for the response.  I'll skip using the online option and see if I can't get more practiced at trying to fix the various formula errors.  I may even uninstall some characters, though I'm loathe to do it since I love mixing percentages of various figures together.  Thanks again, all.
