If you are like me and can never think of a good name for your characters, I just came across this site that I think is very helpful.

Names are categorized by Country, Gender and all the ones I have seen have the meaning of the name as well.

I've been using http://www.behindthename.com/ for this, and http://surnames.behindthename.com/ for family names. I wonder how much overlap they have? (Hoping it's not a complete overlap.)
