Will wish list comments return?

I noticed that people are commenting that the user galleries are gone, and that Daz will bring them back later.

Is this also true for the user wish list comments?

I certainly want my wish list comments back.

not nice news for me. Those comments helped me decide when to buy products.

But I guess I am the lone upset customer who gets screwed.

    Lesson to be learned:

NEVER INVEST INFORMATION ON A PLATFORM OVER WHICH YOU HAVE NO CONTROL

  • Moved to the Commons as it is not a Daz Studio topic.

I'm upset about this too - looking through my wishlist, there are items I have no idea why I added anymore.

I WANT MY COMMENT FIELD IN MY WISHLIST BACK!

MAN, CAN YOU GUYS SCREW UP EVEN MORE USEFUL THINGS? who the heck decides to annihilate so many appreciated features - and replace them by useless crap?

i come here - because i like drawing 3d and well, the shop is kinda needed, right - so that i can take a break from real life's stress. which has been, like for many, real bad or worse than usual. on all levels, financially, health, other stuff to do/cope with...

AND THEN, I HAVE TO GET UPSET AND FURIOUS NONSTOP HERE AS WELL,  because whoever designs, takes decisions etc, has just absolutely no idea what we want, what is useful, what is a waste of time and pixels. can you please 1) use your brain, 2) listen to your customer base????

am i supposed to include daz and its shop in my daily, already more than sufficient sources of worries and annoyances???

EDIT: that's it.. after all what went down here recently with the site redesign, this was just the last drop that made the vase overflow. -  i just canceled my PC+ membership. i'm not feeding 70$ (yup, can't get it for 42$ now, would have had to wait until the ned of november) in here the way things go. pity for the few cool freebies. the 6$ wasn't bad either. but 70$ in my pocket these days is way more useful. because you know, I CAN LIVE WITHOUT NEW 3D STUFF. i have gigabytes of it already.

The wishlist comments were a good tool for helping us know when Daz had raised their prices on content we had wishlisted.  I would write in the release date Orginal price in the wishlist comments an would wait for things in my wishlist would go on sale  it was a really big help  looking at a glance how much the price difference would be between origanl price and sale price without having to go back and forth  to see the price changes or having to put things in your shopping cart to only have to remove it when you decided the price was not right for your budget..

in the last few months I had seen some older content that I had comented on the orginal price with the date on some items  I had wishlisted and have gone up 20% or more than what I had commented for the release date.

i would have show a screen shot of it.  but the comment s are now gone.  leaving us all to wonder why this feature was removed.

  • I honestly had never noticed there was a wish list comment option. Maybe I'm not alone and that's why it seemed usage was lower than expected.

  • According to Daz the comments feature was not widely used, which was why it wasn't transferred.

According to Daz the comments feature was not widely used, which was why it wasn't transferred.

i'm not an analyst. maybe it wasn't. still, even if not for the mainstream, i don't think leaving it i.e. transferring was that big of a feat.

and speaking about widely used features, i really wonder if the majority of users will use/see a need in those new awful mouseover icon texts.. what is more useful, allowing people to leave notices on a wishlist, a feature where some of us spent a lot of time arranging because of the daz deals plugin, or explaining that an icon that reads G8 actually means genesis 8???

what about a site wide SURVEY of the whole customer base? an official invitation in a newsletter or better a banner, to give our opinion on features? like ASKING US IF WE'RE OK IF THE COMMENT SECTION DISAPPEARS? instead of just putting us in front of the done thing... like, "ah well, it's gone. bad luck if you used it. get over it."

since this redesign started, i got upset and furious about a lot of things. up to now, nothing positive to notice.

EDIT: and if the data of the comments was actually lost forever, even if Ati & co give us another / a better alternative in their reworked version of the plugin - bless them - i and those who use this system will have to go thru hundreds + of wishlist items to find again (if we remember) and comment again, and tag again what we want.

you'd think a site update would have meant finally, at least, after years, integrating all the awesome features from the daz deals plugin into the new user interface. features that actually should have been implemented years ago. but no, they take away all the cool stuff, and give us... ridiculous icons... pah.

The feature that I will miss is Daz Deals' usage of the comments section to provide us with the ability to make groups in our wishlists. I had 4 groups based on what project the wishlisted item was for. By clicking on the group, I could see---at a glance---the items I needed to purchase for a given project. That's the kind of functionality I would like in a wishlist. I would've also liked search parameters implemented in the wishlist, but Daz does not seem to see the value of a full-function website.

One compensating consequence of Daz dropping the wishlist comment space is that it lead to me discovering the Daz Deals web browser plugin, which I imagine is a superior replacement for the wishlist comment space.

Unfortunately still, the Daz Deals plugin did rely on the wishlist comment space for some of it's more useful functions, and hence those functions no longer work. But, the people who make Daz Deals are now fixing that to restore those more useful functions.

The problem was most probably not transferring the data but that they would need to implement a wishlist comments feature in the new store system.

Yeah, I never knew it existed either...

How did it work... where was it?...

It couldn't have been very prominent or I'd have tried it at least once.

Alas, the possibility of what could have I had it the fortitude to poke about clicking on random areas of the screen...

There was a text box under the product name.

That's odd... I guess if it didn't say "Comments:" or give an indication it was a text box, I probably thought it was just blank space... also, I usually shop or visit the forums on my iPad, so for all I know it might not have worked in iOS.

it said something like "write sth in here" - in every single field under the thumb XDD.

see, if YOU had commented, maybe you were just that one "voice" missing to tip the scales in our favor... XDD

  • Fact is, I genuinely didn't realise that comment-field thing was a feature either.  Usually I just click the Heart button on the product page and then quit out of that tab to go look at the next item, so never saw any kind of Comments field.

I also had no idea there was a comments field. Much like DS, we have to stumble onto the feature by accident or hope we read about it in the forums if there's no manual (or no one tells us it exists).

I still have my Daz-Deals groups/labels! But I can't add to them. At least my shopping will be expedited a bit. And I just severely pruned my wishlist to make management easier.

  • I must admit the first I learnt of it was people complaining it had been removed

so no idea if I would have found it useful

I certainly did the old Art studio site blog and private comments for example to remind me of stuff

  • I too relied on this feature and was quite sad to see it go. I grouped mine by secret code using animal sounds.

I use the comments to keep track of what products would be useful for which future projects.

Daz has also given us many textures in the Weekly Freebie.  If I like the texture set, I'll get it even if I don't have the required product, but  I'll add the required product to my Wishlist to be purchased when the budget allows.  A comment here helps me keep track of future purchases based on order of priority.
