Question about importing primitive cylander

OK So I created a cylander with 8 sides, in order to model with it I had to rotate it slightly to make it verticle. the top and bottom section
and then rotate on it's side.

This made the pivot point off and when I tried to UV map the box projection was cock-eyed as well - how can i reset everything on my center point so that it's more normal and i can map with it?

    when rotating things, it's best to hold shift to rotate it on a fixed axis.

    to fix it, just create a cube, select the cylinder, go to utilities > lay on, then click the face on the bottom of the cylinder and then click the face on the top of the cube, and press enter to validate. it will essentially stack/orient the cylinder on top of the cube.
