OT - This is just so cute! Rat bathing itself with soap! {update: apparently it's a south american rodent of somekind, not a rat}

This is a Pinterest link - don't click on any of their ads ;-)

Think of all the new poses and soap textures our 3D rats could be needing :-)

    I'm glad to see somebody else has suspicions about that clip.

    But does he know enough to rinse himself off?  And is he/she aware of the potential damage to his skin oils and fur?  Or is he just freaked out and frantically trying to rub this slippery stuff from his fur?  So many questions.indecision

    I'm not sure that's a rat... or at least a regular type of rat... I've had pet rats and the feet and certain aspects of the body look wrong... also I'm not seeing the tail... (rat tails are kinda long) there is a very blurry object that might be the tail curled off on the right side where the wall and floor of the basin meet... but it looks too short for a regular rat (Norway/Brown/Parisian/Warf/Black/Hanover/Street/Sewer/Ratatouille type rat)... but there are dozens of different types of "rats", and not all look very "ratish"...

    The way it stands is "off" for a regular rat too... the arms and legs seem wrong... I'm not poo-pooing the video... it's cute, I'm just thinking it's some other type of large rodent maybe something South American or Asian.

    Rats are real characters and I've seen them do amazing things you'd think they'd have to be taught to do, which they just figured out on their own.

    It's real, but it's not a rat, and the story behind is not so cute:

    Well, hopefully it found a stream near by to dive into.

  • Well I was thinking and hoping that whoever had their [pet?] all lathered up would be rinsing it off somehow. Catching a wet lathered cat or dog can be amazingly difficult, never EVER thought I should try washing with soap any rodent I ever kept.

    Thank you Taoz for finding the source for that popular clip.

    The "Dark Truth" behind the rat video... I was ready for something juicier... like it was actually from a rat porn video or something... but filmed by rats, for rats... remember, I said they do amazing things... why couldn't they figure out how to use a video camera?
    It does kinda look like a pacarana though, but I thought they were pretty huge... like around three feet long more or less? Even for a young one that seems pretty small.

    According to this video those "shower" movements are normal to pacarana's, maybe that's how they got the idea.  Some of the text sounds like bad english though, I think "showing like a human" was supposed to be "showering like a human".
