is the Stitch Witch like a 3d paint utility?
the description says it's for clothes, but can it be used on figures to make 2nd skin clothing?
my Miki3 has nothing to wear. poor gal.

Stitch witch is a utility to help you make textures for clothinmg, not the clothing itself.
can i texture Michael with it?
for example, paint his legs with fishnet stockings? lace garters?
To be honest I don't know. Although I have it I have actually never used it. I guess it could be used that way. But you could do that almost as easily in a paint app that uses layers, I would have thought.
You can use it to create 2nd skins.
The garters would work because they are exactly what stitch witch was designed to do.
The fishnet would not because stitch witch uses .jpgs and there is no alpha channel to allow the skin texture to show through.
I have 2-3 posts on the old forum which address ways to use it
Actually it can save textures in png, bmp, jpg, tif and gif. also saves a transparancy map too.. ;)

ahhzo  i don't have a M4 texture template, the stitchwitch comes with a utility to export a template from the obj file.
i don't see that it knows how to cross the seams.

Sure, but it doesn't LOAD png files or anything with an alpha channel, which is what you need to overlay the fishnet to create a 2nd skin.
Alas no.
Is this product still available somewhere?
You could try asking over at Hivewire.
Ok. Thanks, Chohole. :)
If you want to save transmaps you need to use the special image that come with Stitch Witch and is placed under your lacey pattern etc.
Was checking this matter out. One can create a fishnet etc. for use as a 2nd skin. The trick is load a clear transparency AS the "template." Now This delightful program ADDS a colour to the background. So one then goes into adjust the colour and make it 0% opacity ;-)
Then load the template as a base spline [so one can see what they're doing]. Then on another spline layer make the fishnet stockings or whatever. Then HIDE the base layer and export out that as .png file and the background should remain clear.
For that clear transparency it is very important to paint the 4 corners the very same as the 4 corners one paints on the Template image so the match can be made well.
I would make a suggestion, once you are done with your second skin don't apply it to your character create a geoshell first and offset it by a small amout and then apply the 2nd skin to the shell it will now appear as clothes and not something painted on unless you want it to look painted on.
Sounds like a good idea too, thanks. :-)
