export genesis 8 characters to 3ds max

August 2020 in 3ds Max Discussion

Hello,

I have a problem when importing my characters on the 3ds max software. When I export the character, I save it to fbx. I check without animation, because the goal is to then work with the arnold software for the renderings.
When I import it into 3ds max software, I end up with the textured clothes, but the character is just a frame of polygons.
I searched the tutorials but I did not find any information that could allow me to import genesis 8 characters.
Would you have the solution concerning this problem, I am completely lost in front of this.
Thanks in advance anyway.

I don't know if you've found a solution by now, but I want to ask if you intend on animating the characters inside 3ds Max?
My workflow is DAZ to 3ds Max and render with Vray. I do all the posing and scene setup in DAZ, then I export as OBJ and set up everything else in 3ds Max.

FBX is a very shoddy format. If you don't need the bones and movement in 3ds Max, I'd recommend you just export as OBJ. Using OBJ also allows you to use "HD Morphs", but it'll create immensely large amounts of extra geometry and memory usage. Just be aware of that.

    Hello Cedric

I am not expert in animation workflow, but the best way to export from Daz to 3DS is .obj. It does work well.

That configuration didn't appear to me. Everything was correct.
But I was able to remove the whites from the eyes by manually applying the opacity map to the Sclera Opacity slot which mysteriously appeared without any material.
