Daz studio not responding issues

Hi,

I'm running the latest version of Daz studio, I moved to another computer and I keep getting an error message when I try to use my content. The first error message is 'Daz Studio Not Responding' then it hangs and I get another message that says "Reading Asset". This hangs until it can find the content, and as soon as I click the ok , the messages go away and the content shows up. Anybody know what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance

Well, originally the name of the software was "Not Responding", and then they changed it to Daz Studio because the other name didn't do well in focus groups,  and they mention the old name regularly and give us time to think about what could have been...

Depending on the size of your library, it can take a while to load things, but I've never had an "Ok" button to click and when it's ready to load the figure or hair or whatever, it shows up.

Not responding just means that the application is busy doing soemthing and so not checking to see if Windows has sent any events to it for handling - it isn't an error. If assets (which?) are taking an unusually long time to load, compared to your past experience, then it could indicate an issue but the messages you report are not diagnostic. Are you getting complaints about Duplicate Formulas? How do the content diectory settings compare with the other system? Is the install method the same on both? Is your content on the same kind of drive, over the same kind of connection, for both? Are you using the same security software on both systems?

When I was running the content from my laptop,it didn't take so long to load. I moved from the laptop because it just took forever to render so I moved over to a newer desktop. I'm getting duplicate formulas messages, I'm running my content from an external harddrive. I install from the content manager. Both the desktop and the laptop were running McAffee. I have a folder on the computer's harddrive which has a My Library folder, but there really isn't anything in it. There is probably a simple solution, it's just driving me nuts.

  • It was an external on both? Did you get the Duplicate Formulas warnings on both systems? Those can certainly slow loading - by Genesis 8 Female went from about two minutes and a bit to load to getting on for nine with just one pair of conflicting files causing such an error.

I'm only getting the duplicate formulas warnings when I run the external harddrive with the desktop. I'm curious I'm going to play with loading Gen8 male to see if I get the same message.
