Iclone Vs. carrara option

Hi,
I just saw different options to create animation. My only issue as a rookie is that I have no clue as this works. I saw in one of the iclone videos that characters can talk. I have one question:
The lips movement, how are they generated? Do the characters just talk by inputting a phrase or a sentence? Is it how this works?

Is all the information (the how to's) on video tutorials?
