IMPORTING Content Made for the Other Software?

If this has already been answered somewhere, please point me there.

Can I now import into DAZ Studio content made for other software with extensions like .max and .blend?  Or is this a one way street?

As Richard noted in another thread, for the time being, the bridges get content from DS to your program of choice, not the other way around.

No, the bridges are for export from DS to other apps.

    That's really too bad.

Nothing that I am aware of can read a .max file other than AutoDesk 3D Studio Max.

Daz is a business that sells content. Daz wants to sell more content, by making it usable in other software. Going out of their way to help you use content that was created/purchased elsewhere might reduce your desire to purchase Daz store content. I'd be surprised to see them take that approach.

I see your point, but look at it this way, you get a user more comfortable/excited with using DS and they might be more likely to start or purchase more content from the store to use along side the assets they import from other places, it's what I do and see lots of others doing it.. So having more options for DS use, including easier import methods is a plus IMO. I bet there would be a big increase in gallery submissions if only just the FBX import oprion worked and kept rigging intact

Personally I don't see the export bridge options as being that lucrative, but I hope I am proven wrong. Once DAZ content can easily be used in other apps, you will see it posted and shared on thw web even more than it is now. With the cost of Max, Maya, C4d, etc, unless you have deep pockets, are in school or work for a studio, the majority of these users are using non legit versions and have no interest in paying for content. Many Blender users are the same way since it is the modeling app of choice for those wanting to mod games, so expect more DAZ content to show up in the various game workshops on Steam.
