SO has anyone tried texturing a model with UDIM in Photoshop

SO I have this nice little tidy subscription with Adobe for Photoshop CC.  Cath being back on the scene ways to texture 3D models came up.  Photoshop CC came up and so I got curious.  I had a horrible experience with that last night.  Imported in L'HOmme to play with in there but from what I was able to determine Adobe imports in this OBJ differently than other programs, like it's not really an OBJ, sort of like what ZBrush does as you are really working in 2D/3D sort of.  BUT you can zoom in and out and you don't get jaggies or weird artifacts.  In Photoshop my experience was I got just that... jaggies and artifacts.  So doing close up texturing just seemed to be lost to me how I would go about doing that.

So

1: I either didn't import correctly or

2: Photoshop is NOT a good solution for working on skinning a 3D model.

I looked on YouTube for a video or two for guidance.  No such luck.  Little things but nothing big like a human 3D model.

Any one had any luck using Photoshop for doing big items like 3D humaniod models, if so link to a proper tutorial explaining things?

Thanks so much

Richard

I haven’t spent a lot of time with it, but my experiences with Photoshop’s 3D capabilities so far have been abysmal.

Maybe I'd feel more positively towards it if I were more comfortable with PS's interface, but I just don't like using PS very much, and the 3D elements were implemented in a way that feels very strange to me.

  • honeslty if only i could use photoshop only my workflow would be 100 times faster. its annoy to move from mari to substance to photoshop everytime. some things can only be done in photoshop, like multi frequency separation and such
