Missing files warning when loading Genesis 8 Female

When I am loading just the G8F I get all these warnings in  my log file of missing morphs,.. why would DS even be looking for these when loading a simple G8? I do own these morphs and they are installed, I just don't know why they are being called if I am not using that particular character. I would think these morphs would only be referenced if I was loading the character they required?  Also it takes over 4 minutes just to load the G8F, is this normal ?  I have copied the section from my log file showing what DS is looking for, if anyone can tell me if there is something I can do to stop DS from looking for these when loading G8 I appreciate any help.

When loading G8F DS parses all her morphs in order to create the list of dials available in the parameters and shaping tabs. The morphs themselves are not loaded, they're just referenced so you can use them afterwards.

That tels you that Camila by Handspan Studios has a corrective morph "MCM Camila Eyes Closed R" which will work when (presumably)  the base Camila shape is appied and the eCTRLEyelidsLowerUpDownR morph is set - to make sure that there is no overlap or gap. If you don't have eCTRLEyelidsLowerUpDownR then the link can't be made, but that's OK as you don't need it either. These warnings might be useful to content creators if a connection was meant to be established but, perhaps due to a typo somewhere, wasn't - so they are logged, but they can be ignored.

Ok thanks for the info, I won't worry about these warnings then, but do they have an impact on how long it takes for G8F to load?  I also loaded Eryn to see what would show in the log file and it still has the warning referencing that morph plus all the others.  I assume that's ok and that there isn't a problem with a missing morph that is needed for that character?

All of those "Warnings" ring alarm bells with me.

Most of the time those errors are a case of a file in Product X is looking for a file in Product Y and can't find it, you however have a few where a file in Product X is looking for another file in Product X and can't find it. That screams vendor cockup to me, thay have changed a file name/location after they have done an ERC freeze, that breaks the ERC links, which means the product no longer works as intended, and neither they nor the QA have spotted it.

Take the one Richard picked out, "eCTRLEyelidsLowerUpDownR.dsf" is part of the starter essentials so we should all have it. Problem is DAZ like to **** about with the folder names and file locations, as a result that file is no longer in the "Head" folder, it's in the "Base Pose Head" folder instead.

Then we have "PHMJawCornerWidth.dsf#PHMPHMJawCornerWidth?value", that should read "PHMJawCornerWidth.dsf#PHMJawCornerWidth?value", so there is a double PHM in the property call that shouldn't be there.

As a result "Camila" needs updated, and it's not the only one, any product made before the folder changes needs to be checked and updated.

So no those warnings aren't harmless, but you need to know what you are looking at to realise which are a problem and which aren't.

@Bejaymac  Sorry I didn't get a notice that you had resoonded to this problem, so thank you for that informatio, but now what can I do to get the product fixed?  Is it just on my system or would this be a problem for everyone that has G8F or Camila?

Odds are they are like that for everybody and not just you.

You could try reporting them, but that leaves the problem of figuring out which is a bug and which isn't, and that is probably why no one else has reported them, they basically don't have a clue what they are looking at.
I should add that I don't just mean the general user base, vendors and DAZ staff are just as guilty IMHO.

Right lets look at the those warnings.

First up Virtual_World, all of those warnings point to a VWLashes, so a quick check of their store and you will find they have a "Great Lashes for G8F" product, and for their Andrea character it's listed as a required product. So if you don't have that eyelash product then those warnings aren't bugs, just missing product reports.

The rest of them are bugs of one sort or another.

Most of Handspan's I'll put down to DAZ making changes after the products were made, however Eryn does have an issue where two of the MCM's can't find the head morph.

The character Sisi looks to have been built on a "fully loaded" G8F, rather than on a bare minimum in a separate content directory, as a result an active genital morph from a Renderotica product was linked during the ERC freeze for the body morph. Funny part is that Sisi is a DAZ Original, so not one of them has spotted that little mistake.

The rest are Product X can't find a file/property in the same product, basically changed the name of a folder/file/property after doing an ERC freeze, and didn't bother checking they hadn't buggered up any thing, mind you DAZ QA should get some of the credit too, after all those products wouldn't have gotten into the store with bugs if they had been doing their job right.

Scary part is if I owned those products. notepad++ and 20 minutes of my time would have fixed all of those warnings, but then I've been fixing cockups in DSON files since Genesis 1, so it's pretty much second nature for me.
