DAZ Studio and Poser .xmp files - any solution? (small oops, not an actual problem)

Got a bit of a problem here. I just realised yet another batch of excellent Poser-format freebies I've downloaded were created with the "save external morph files" switch left on. I know there used to be a script to re-merge the object and morph data so it could be properly converted into D|S format with the morphs working, but the last I heard that script doesn't work any more on recent D|S versions. Is there any way to fix this? Can the files be merged manually?
I do have an old copy of Poser 7 that I never installed into this computer when I last updated, but that strikes me as a bit of an extreme solution.

.xmp files aren't binary morphs, they're Poser metadata.
<headdesk> I've got the two mixed up again...?
The other one is pmd ...
