I love marketing speak: Earn something Free!
Seriously, it it has to be earnt, it can't be, nor is it, free.
It's like saying buy one get one free; it isn't free, but at no extra cost.
I do like the promo though. :)

HAHA! Yes! Daz and their use of the word free =
If someone says "Give me $3 for this cherry and I'll give you this free cupcake" then that wasn't a free cupcake haha!
But having said that, honestly, it's not a big problem for me because today's banner, and most of the other times Daz offers buy this for $x free, is still a really generous and fun offer :)
Oh yeh they have some great deals, but the word free always makes me suspicious.
"What do I have to do... ?"

My first purchase for ages; nice looking character and the extra options are nice, and interesting; I'll even roll out G2.
No, you're totally right! But to be fair to Daz, I guess it actually depends on your POV. If you're looking at today's deal as "Oh I don't want that stuff but I have to buy it and spend $30 to get $25 free?!" then yeah that's not free at all BUT if you're already super interested in the new releases and have 3+ in your cart then it does become more like someone coming along and saying, "Hey, since you're buying those, go ahead and grab $25 of stuff for nothing"
Yes, that's the new release that sparked my interest too! Super innovative idea!!
They're still wrong to use the term free. :) They aren't, they're just not costing any more.
Daz Studio is free to download (as are many products out there); unlike those, Studio can also be used for free, or at least for nothing more than handing over some personal details - which was done before downloading. It has content available so folks can try stuff, and they can then use it with nothing more than the content that has no cost - a few from Daz, and also available from Deviant Art, Renderosity and others.
So yes, there is a very good argument that Studio is free to download and use, but never that the items aren't costing me any more so they must be free. The clue is in the, "aren't costing me any more."
The best way of looking at it imo, is the shopping cart, it shows the percentage of discount (with ATIs plugin?) Doesn't matter how many free items you add to the cart - if one has had to part with cash for one of 'em - the total never hits 100% discount, the discount merely increases.
Until I see coupons for X dollars off or a product completely free with no other strings attached I generally ignore all DAZ advertising that has the word "free" in it.
