Need for seperate Upcoming and Released DAZ PA Commercial Products forum somehow?

I'm not sure where to post this, but I used to love reading the PA Commercial Productsf forum threads in order to get an idea of what new products were coming out.  Lately, though, it seems that the first pages are often dominated by a blizzard of support threads for a handfull of products, with the result that new upcoming item threads sink to later pages and disappear.  WIth that in mind, am I the only one who thinks that everyone... the PAs, DAZ and the customers, might all be served better if there was a way to seperate upcoming and released product threads, either with a filter or actual seperate Upcoming Products and Released/Support forums?.

I think ANOTHER forum category is probably no good as to the work involved moving threads from one place to another OR the hassle for looking for a thread about a product you were following and it was released and you didn't know. Now you'd have TWO threads to search and with a ton of products being made ready, in cue and out/fresh that would be even more pages to search through.

The best I can think is EACH MEMEBR uses the BOOKMARK function (the star at the far left of threads) and search for the threads you have deemed followable. lol

That's the best way. YOU pick what new products threads you want to follow.

What do you think about that for a solution?

I'm not seeing the issue myself. I enjoy going to the commercial forum and seeing what is upcoming from the various PAs.

I don't. It fills me with anxious ... anxiety of when the product is coming out.

It's like seeing a movie trailer for next summer's blockbuster.

    I...just....can't.....wait........

If the bookmark system had an effective method of filtering by forum and date, that might be a reasonable solution.  Unfortunately, it doesn't, and it's made worse by mod deletions and merging of similar threads, which often makes bookmarks no longer go where you expect them to..  As it is, I'm currently tracking over two thousand bookmarks and would estimate, in the average week, that at least 5 of the bookmarks I've placed within that period will become invalid by the time that 7 days have passed. And then there's the issue of not getting an email on a new post if you haven't read the thread since the last new post.

My issue with the current commercial product thread, though, is that due to nature of certain products, the front pages are increasingly dominated by support threads for a relatively small handful of products, something that really crystalized for me a few days ago when I noticed that out of the 60 threads on the first two pages, a whopping 29 had original posts from over six months agon (2019 or earlier), with a dozen being multiple years old, while at the same time multiple product threads that had first been posted within the last three weeks were already back on page 3.  Gven that I probably spend more time on these forums than the average DAZ user, yet I'm finding myself missing new product announcements constantly, it just seems like there should be a way to give all those obviously necessary support threads a place to live where they're not sucking the oxygen away from "smaller" release announcements.

    yes

I agree.  It's trivial for PAs to move their threads from Upcoming to Released (Support threads are what they really are), and it would be easier to keep an eye out for new products.  Ideally though, I'd like to see something like at Renderotica, where certain vendors whose products generate a lot of support questions, like the scripted products and plugins, have their own sub-sections.

With that said, there are a lot of ways in which the forums could be improved, like adding an "Identify this product" room, and an Off-Topic room for general BS threads.  Like it or not, the Daz forums have become a social hub for a lot of us, and in the meantime, new customers are split between New Users and The Commons.

If you want a popular website, you have to run it like a popular website.

When it came to a search for one of the RSSY products when I had a problem, I first checked the promo page but didn't see a link to the commercial page. So, I started searching that forum, page by page, I think I found the one I needed about 8 or 9 pages in. Then I have all those pages of folks excited about the producted coming, happy it was released, then finally a few issues, but not mine. So then I read all the other similar threads to see if anyone else had a like issue. I just gave up on trying to find a fix. My frustration hit a new level. But, some of the older clothes just won't convert.

I really would appreciate if after the product is released that the PA updates the first post with the link to their product in the store. Then we can find the commercial thread right away. If a new person has Ati's add-on, they still may not know about the Commercial Thread and not know where there is a great deal of information available there. It took me months before I looked at the forums.

In the Commecial forum only the PAs (and mods) can start threads.

    +1

I know where to look; PAs make it obvious if released or not.
