Question about iray render

Hello gang, I like to ask. I use an nvidia card and thinking of switching to amd, the question is, the iray option in ds viewport dissapears or is not available in other non nvidia cards? Are the final renders with iray looks good too? Thanks

iRay is only available on Nvidia or CPU. Doing an iray render on CPU is very slow.

Final renders with iRay look as photoreal as anything you can easily achieve with consumer grade tools. Now that does involve how much work you put in and the skill and knowledge you have.

What do you mean by consumer grade tools? I render only with CPU. My laptop doesn't have any graphics card. I second the use of NVIDIA for IRay renders.

Definitely go Nvidia. When I built my 1st big system back in 2013, I went with AMD trusting what I was told in regards to fast rendering coming to Reality / Lux which never materialized. I Just upgraded my Nvidia to a 2080ti and its living up to the hype. Apperently the next gen is going to be even more insane!

Have you ever seen an architectual render using Vray? That's more photoreal than anything iRay can easily produce but that uses Maya which is $1600US/year and the Vray plugin which is another $500/year.
