Ok, you're right. Maybe it was so slow, so slow, so i decided it not working at all. That's funny. But anyway, contemporary NVIDIA card with big amount of CUDAs and memory is the best solution for DS.

I switched from a PC to Mac as a main computer back in 2007. I got my whole family to switch to Mac. I've grown to regret that decision when it comes to using DAZ Studio.

I have seen testresults where CPU renders matched GPU renders. (this was pre RTX)
However they where using top of the line XEON processors (At that time the best money could buy)

If you are like me and have a 1070 nvidia with 8 GB and 16GB DDR and a i7 4770-K CPU it would make more sense (to me) to invest in a better cpu ryzen rs3900x or even a treadripper then getting an 2080 video card.

But if you need a decent render machine and you are not a gamer i would look into Quadro GPU cards.

You can get good results In CPU renders but it needs a bigger investment then with GPU renders.

Then I suppose a late 2013 iMac is not considered "recent?!"

Only if you remember computers with rows of lights and switches on the front panel.laugh

    You had _lights_?   I had a Digi-comp I ...

Thank you so much for your replies and advices, guys. Just for concluding, the best equipment I could get for faster and better renders is:

GPU: GeForce GTX1660 (or higher) with 6GB (or more) memory.

More CUDA cores => faster render.  My most recent laptop has Intel CORE i5. Do I need a better one?

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
    RAM: 16Gb and more

If you could suggest me a better requiremet or if I need something more, please let me know.

    Thank you so much, guys!

Another suggestion you could give me for purchasing the best equipment for my renders?

CUDA cores are the processors on you graphics card.  The GTX1660 has 1408.

Hi! I do a lot of renders in Iray of Daz Studio, and my brother sugessted me to buy a Macbook, because renders are better and faster in Mac equipment, so I'm considering to buy a Macbook, but all my content is in Windows.

So, I'd like to know if all my Daz content in Windows is compatible with Mac, I mean, if I'd copy the full "My DAZ 3D Library" folder directly to the Mac folder content, my content would be compatible in Mac?

Also, I know the Windows route of the Daz Content is C:/Users/Public access/Public Documents/My DAZ 3D Library. Does Mac have the same route?

And is it true in Mac Books renders are better and faster?

Excuse all my questions but I've never had a Mac, and I'd like to know these details before take a decision.

    Thanks!

    Better?

No. They are no different, given a user has the same skills and the same or comparable tools are available.

    Faster?

Definitely not. As you use Iray, Apple don't really support Nvidia sufficiently well to allow for it to be used with a good graphics card. They are generally much slower than either a Windows PC.
