dForce underwater

HylasHylas Posts: 5,259

Has anybody tried to use dForce to make a billowy garment (or hair) look like it's underwater?

How would you go about it? I imagine it would involve manipulating the gravity slider.

Will do some experiments and post them here if they seem worth sharing. Input welcome!

Gravity settings might help (lighter gravity), also perhaps a couple of wind nodes maybe? https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/3003846/#Comment_3003846

You could also turn the character the wrong way around (upside down perhaps) to run the simulation to get the hair/clothes flowing behind. Then turn the character the right way round.

Ok, that wasn't so hard. Only a few tries and I'm already quite close to what I imagined.

The gown is Ghastly's Slinky Dress: https://www.sharecg.com/v/66293/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Ghastlys-Slinky-Dress

    Gravity: -0.2
    Air Resistance: 0.6

Plus two wind nodes (10 mph) to get some asymmetry.

This was done with a wind node and simulation from a memorized pose -

Something that might also help is altering the envrionment settings for gravity and air resistance.
