FG Gas Station -- Doors Rigged?
in The Commons
Quick question for anyone who bought the new FG Gas Station building: Are the doors for the upright juice / pop coolers rigged to open? Looks like the single ones should be hinged and the built-in ones slide open.
Would be very useful for scenes showing a character in the middle of selecting an item.
Thanks!

Unfortunately, no, they do not.
I actually came in here to ask the same question lol
I took the plunge and bought it so we could find out, as I can use it either way (would MUCH prefer if they opened, though). The main door to the store opens (though the 'open' sign that's supposed to be hanging in it isn't parented, so unless you parent that to the door, it just hangs in mid air once the door is opened), but that's the only one. Even the garage doors don't open. They can be moved, rotated, or hidden, but there's no really believable way to open them.
Also, is there any interior to the service areas?
That's really disappointing, but fortunately, 2nd World's new Mini-Market over at Renderosity does have opening coolers and the two products should mesh pretty well with a little texture adjustment. I'm really surprised that there's so little articulation in this set, though, given that there's a set of poses sold for it. It also appears to have missed the oppoprtunity to have pumps that could be posed, which I'd have much rather have had than that rudimentary landscape.
oh thank you for the warning. I hate it also if props are not rigged.
it looks detailed and hence too heavy for my rig
I have bought less complex stuff by this artist before and needed to heavily use scene otimiser
but for those who can handle it, if its a prop make it a figure use the geometry editor to select each of the door meshes and add a child bone to each fill selection with weight, memorise rigging and save as a new figure with a new name
That Mini Market is beautifully done. Wish it was available for Iray.
When I first saw the gas station product I was wondering if the gas pumps were rigged...with poseable hoses/nozzles. That would have been a selling point for me, as well as the other items being rigged. I'd want the ability to pose or animate a character pumping gas into a vehicle , or simply holding the nozzle and hose, if I had the gas station.
Was thinking it's not a realistic gas station without milk priced 2-3 times what you'd pay in the grocery store...then I saw the $9 box of crackers...
:D
thanks for the warning. didnt even occur to me the freezer doors wouldnt open.
, which I'd have much rather had than that rudimentary landscape
And the $17 packs of gum and candy at the register. :)
LOL but we have Carrara
just export it as an obj (make sure base resolution Fugazi goes iver the top on subdivisions) with quotations for paths and import in part to Carrara and create a hierarchy
I don't have it to know how it will split
we can move our hot-point pivots easy to
I've waited for a modern gas station for so long (not counting the two at Rendo that are only good at a distance and with numerous shader replacements---where the mesh will allow); so, to get two in quick succession (Urban Gas, which DOES have rigged pumps) is VERY helpful. Now, if Polish, Tesla3dCorp, or Digitallab3d will do a new one, I'll be set! (I went from none to I just need one more; it's pathetic).
There's bare walls, floor, and ceiling, but that's it.
No such luck there. They're inarticulate props.
Well, I guess one could export the gaspump, edit it in Blender or Hexagon or whatever, cut out ALL the mesh except for the pump pistol, save the pistol as a new object, import it and parent it as a prop to the hand or the car. Next, connect the pistol to the gaspump using The Antfarm's Flex Pipes (which you probably bought because you just knew you would find some crucial use for it some day), hide the original hose, and that's one posable gaspump.
Yes... Of course. I've done something like this several times before. Doing so can be referred to as "Kit Bashing". Sometimes, though, it is less work to model and rig an item from scratch if the item isn't available. Which is something I've also done and will do again.
(I do understand that not everyone can do this, but it can be fun.
)
Is there anything behind those doors on the left? I'm assuming it's a bathroom?
cause mine has a working bathroom. mine also has rigged cold case doors. and it's free. -_-
Thanks for the info. I removed the FG gas station from my wishlist.
This could also be done right in Daz Studio using the Geometry Editor's Select Connected, Hide Selected, and Delete Selected, and then saving as a new prop. You might have to do it in two different sessions/instances though.
yup, me too. i actually just msg'ed 2nd world to ask if totally many poser shaders where used and where, since swapping/fumbling a bit would be worth it but not if every single object need texturing. and ofc i invited the artist to add an iray version, lol...
Yeah, I was wondering about that, too. No images focussing on those doors, or what's behind them, so I'm guessing the doors are static, too, and that there isn't a room behind them. I've assumed one can probably hide the doors by turning the related surface 100% transparent and simply slap a different set of doors there, though.
