That doesn’t look anything like Greylien. It may or may not be a Daz model, but I see no reason to think it’s that one.

Probably not. It's a fairly big-budget production for VOD with an experienced Russian effects team that has worked on a number of films, mostly Bollywood productions.  I can't see them using a stock model for one of the film's key promotional elements and losing control over the rights to the visuals when they had people from Stranger Things and Into the Spiderverse working on the payroll.  There's just only so much that you can do within the parameters of what people now expect from Blues and Greys.

Josh Crockett's work is in several tv shows and movies, including Welcome to Willits and others. https://www.udemy.com/user/josh-287/

Well, lots of artists paint over things.

    I see that a lot.
And in comics, it's a huge thing to trace 3D objects.

The face wrinkles and stuff line up with the Exile's from what I can see. Posters and key art are often outsourced and the people making them depend heavily on stock imagery since it can be harder than you might expect to get decent assets from clients (even in big productions, and especially on a deadline).

Yes, I worked on this for VGP effects. That is indeed my work on the cover there, though it was used without my permission lol. That particular alien is not part of the Daz catalog, it's actually from an concept illustration from one of my tutorials. https://monsterfaces.weebly.com/uploads/9/1/9/5/9195699/8037836_orig.jpg   Looks like it's been mirrored and tweaked in photoshop.

I did do a few designs for the aliens in the film though oddly enough. They are here under the "Wecome to Willits" section of my film work here: https://monsterfaces.weebly.com/film--tv-work.html. I have not updated the page in a while, I've worked on a lot since then.

Should probably update it one of these days... LOL

  • Really nice work Josh. Always fun to be involved in movie posters. I once walked into a theatre and was surprised to see my work on the wall lol  .. This painting - https://www.artstation.com/artwork/XBz4y    and here's the poster (Fifth Wave) http://images.fandango.com/images/fandangoblog/5WV_DGTL_MKT_2[2].jpg   They also used my other images in other posters for the same movie ... but, those images  i made available on shutterstock etc ... so likely they purchased them. I also created the poster for the maze runner movie / book too; fun times.

Any how, going to go and look at all your amazing creature work!
