Daz Studio ViewPort operating on One Single CPU Core?

Hi,

I have read somewhere that Daz Studio only uses one CPU Core when it comes to navigating the viewport. Is this correct?

If so, what is the logic behind this?

And did any one come up with a script or something yet to allow Daz Studio to use multiple CPU cores to make navigating the viewport smoother?

Thanks a lot,

Kind regards,

Me

What do yu mean here? The Viewport uses OpenGL or Iray, the latter may use the CPU (multiple cores) if the GPU is not available/drops out. Beyond that, many processes do not support multi-threading.

  • I mean that whenever you load like 4 Genesis 8 figures in a scene on SubD 3 or 4 and some props, the viewport starts to freeze up when you try to navigate throughthe scene. Hiding stuff makes it run smooth again... This is supposedly caused by the fact the viewport only uses one CPU core to deal with viewport navigation... If this is true, it would be very wise to allow Daz Studio to use more cores... That would really make things a lot easier.

"Allow" may not be the issue, as I said not all processes are readily multi-threadsed. Which preview mode are you using?

  • Hi,

I'm using texture shaded preview (the standard one).
