The front one? From the DAZ3D Facebook profile.

I assume he is not an available character, but I still would love to see more.

Could be a morph mix with Luthbel's Dark Guard character and some others? I don't think it is only Dark Guard, but I may be wrong with that, don't have him so it's only a guess but was the first thing that came to mind, looking closer could be a mix of Dark Guard and your Maxx?

I agree that it looks like Dark Guard but may have a bit of Ink on him and added morphs

The ink might be from Darwin's Mishaps characters. He includes ink with almost every character.

So misterious... The result is awesome.

And clothes? Someone knows what he is wearing? Love the wrinkles.

I hope he's the next Core Figure.

  • So I'm failing to understand why, if the guy's not a DAZ character at all, he's included in DAZ's Facebook banner. I too was curious of his ID when I first saw him. Assumed he was a mixed character or someone soon to be released. He looks terrific.

It's probably the same logic behind that Fast Grab Wonder Woman, it looks cool and it's not important if customers can't get a hold of the exact assets used.

As someone else put it, "This artwork shows off what can be done using DAZ Studio."

Unfortunately, that isn't my ink-work, but I will say- it's very well done.  I've wondered who this guy is as well. :D

the ink looks like something from ShanaSoulmate, never tryed putting a female ink on a male character

Sorry, but this isnt true and it bugs me.  The artist didnt use any DAZ asset.  If you go on their artstation page it says this character was made with ZBrush/Maya/Arnold/X-Gen and for clothing in MD.  DAZ is great for generating character without the need of modeling knowledge, but saying it was made in DAZ Studio without researching is just bad and degrades the artist work /skills IMO.  Not sure if Daz paid the original artist for using their character in their banner, but this is just plain false advertising.

I agree with this. Was the character at least imported into DAZ Studio and rendered there?

No, it was rendered in Arnold.

Yeah that makes it worse, and also disrespectful of the artist and their work.

I agree as well and if true, then it shouldn't be posted on the DAZ facebook page

The argument that was made, whether one agrees that it holds any water, is that the artist uses DS as a posing reference.

  • caravellecaravelle Posts: 2,645

Probably the artist sold his model to Daz, or they bought a license. But even if they did, they shouldn't present it in a way that makes potential customers believe it was done in Daz Studio.

  • Those rings would certainly do some damage in a fight...well, especially on hands that size.

  • Shame it's not a model available for daz. I hope they paid the guy to use his image though.

  • It's not new that DAZ uses other's work for their advertising, but I find it interesting and also a bit alarming tbh, that the DAZ guys use not even a DAZ figure for their header on Facebook. We really have magnificent DAZ Original male figures and also cool clothes, and even cooler artists who can render. WTF?

Well the other day Rendo advertised their sale on clothes with a picture of G8F in an outfit sold at Daz, so apparently it's "normal" for 3d content sites... frown

  • nonesuch00nonesuch00 Posts: 18,714

Sales is the game and growing market share is the game...you can't argue that that character doesn't look like a character out of a 1st class brand new video game where all new tech was brought to bear. I think that model would be pretty effective at drawing in the UE4 & Unity Asset Store buyer crowds.

And the UE4 & Unity product "user" crowd, not a positive in my experience since that is less about buying and more about just, well using..

Very different thing. rendo does nothing but sell 3D content, think brokerage, Daz creates content and the apps to use them and also sells content, think manufacturing and brokerage.

Rendo also sells texture sets for clothing sold at Daz, some of it by PAs who also sell at Daz.  I guess Daz didn't want them?  IDK what the deal is with some of that stuff.

I've spent a lot in the DAZ 3D store and it's just about equal to what I spent in the Unity Asset Store.

Rendo now own and sell Poser a program that doesn't natively support the Genesis line or duf files

Daz also owns and sell programs that don't natively support the Genesis line or duf files.
