Hobbit Outfit

Hi there - I'm working on building up a kitbash for a hobbit character, a very specific NPC from a video game (no it's not Frodo or anybody like that, lol). Anyways, I'm looking for a specific vest fit. I have many vests, but all of them are fit with a low neckline. The NPC specifically wears a vest similar to what is pictured on Frodo (Elijah Wood) in the attached. Has anybody seen a vest specifically like the one pictured with that high neckline? What about a shirt that could go with it? All the shirts I'm finding either have large collars and tighter sleeves (common, every day business shirts) or low show-them-chesty-hairs necklines with ties (typical ren-faire type shirts). I haven't found anything that is close to what is pictured on Frodo...a poofy-ish sleeve, but not pirate poofy with a small collar and the first button undone. It'd also be nice to find more pant options...boy, are just-below-the-knee crops that aren't skin tight hard to find! Almost all of them have tight fitment around the calf as they are intented to be matched with boots and...well, hobbits don't wear boots. I attached my first attempt at the outfit, which isn't bad, but I'm kind of an anal-rententive perfectionist and I'd love to find something that is exactly what I want.

PS - I'm using G8 here, as well as dForce...please try to avoid recommending M4/V4 stuff (unless you know it will convert and take to dForce well)...I'll go back to Genesis and that's pretty much it. Again, I'm super anal-retentive about clothing fitment. Even the collar on the G8 shirt pictured bothers me because it stretches with his neck pose (mesh grabber helped a bit). I turned the dynamics off the collar...might have to try turning them on if I'm forced to use that shirt, but I'd love to find something like what Frodo has on.

What I'm using here - https://www.daz3d.com/dwarf-clothes-for-genesis-2-male-s (this unfortunately is extremely low poly and I was only able to work with the pants) and https://www.daz3d.com/mid-victorian-outfit-for-genesis-8-male-s (converted to dForce)

*edit* I've also attached a screenshot of the NPC...not much to go on as the graphics are not good but you can at least get the idea...now that I look again, Bingo actually does have a pretty big collar on his shirt.

I added the Ferdibrand Goodchild stuff to my wishlist as it's neat, but it doesn't fit the character I need to make at all. That would be more suited to a local hobbit leader, which is I think called a mayor.

The other outfit you linked I already mentioned in my original post and the pants are used in my example render.

it is also odd in that it won't fit anything but the character

I did find a way around that but forgotten how, I think it autofits to later figures OK

Hi Melissa smiley The vest on this regency outfit comes up quite high at the neckline BUT the downside is that the shirt and the necktie are attached as one piece... https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-regency-outfit-for-genesis-8-males

However, flagging up because potentially you could edit the mesh to separate the vest.

Will you be posting this work in your gallery btw? It looks really fun! Would love to see your finished work.

If you ditched the jacket and tie, this might work. https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-victorian-butler-for-genesis-8-males

Thanks, I had noticed the Regency outfit before and was hoping for it to go on sale before buying. However, it wouldn't be the first time I've bought something at full price just to finish a piece. I do plan on posting the work to my gallery!

The Butler outfit the vest looks like it does have a pretty low neckline. It reminds me of the outfits on Downton Abbey.

No problem! This one might be a good match too, although it is lower poly... https://www.daz3d.com/tale-hero

Oh, and tell me about it re breaking the "not until a sale" mantra. My special move = saying not gonna buy until sale, then buying at full price, aaaaaand then the next day it goes into Fast Grab. I'm pretty skilled at that...

I saw that one and I did add it to my wishlist, but even at the current sale price, it's a little high for me to risk it...because yeah...it does look lower poly and I'm not sure how well it would do converting to dForce.

I figured you guys would want to see an update. It's not perfect, but I think he still turned out ultra cute and I can't wait to finish the piece! I decided to include Bingo's green jacket...no speaking for fashion sense!

So for the Regency Outfit...I think I'll be returning it. It's...I dunno how to word it. The materials, despite being listed on the page as Iray...are not. They use a 3Delight shader...or at least what looks like one to me. (And yes, I checked that there is only one materials folder for this outfit so I know I'm applying the correct one.) But all that aside, it just didn't work. The shirt, tie and vest are all one piece and that's a blackball for me under normal circumstances. I want more pieces, not less. I can edit them with the geometry editor to remove what I don't want, but by that point I was left with just a vest that was kinda meh. So it's not worth it for me to keep it. (And btw, the only dForce item in the entire outfit is the coat...yet it's advertised as a dForce outfit...)

I ended up with the vest from the Mid-Victorian outfit...pants from a female set (https://www.daz3d.com/betty-fashion-outfit-for-genesis-8-females) converted to dForce...shirt from one suit set (https://www.daz3d.com/h-c-business-suit-b-for-genesis-3-male-s) because holy hells is it hard to find a buttoned shirt that actually has one or two un-button morphs!...and jacket from another suit set (https://www.daz3d.com/hc-business-suit-for-genesis-8-males) converted to dForce.
