Spring Cleaning?

Hello all! smiley

I'm always interested in hearing the thoughts of those who have lived in the wild and wonderful domain of Daz longer than I. I notice that the "Select Related" items associated with today's Spring Cleaning sales banner are all Genesis to 4-5 era items. Would it therefore be prudent to assume that these 800 items may soon depart from the Daz store, and this sale may be the last chance to snap them up?

No. It's just a regular "seasonal" sale on older content, the name doesn't mean they'll be retired.

DAZ Gen 4 is still widely used in Poser; it would be a bit nave from DAZ to stop supporting them.

I thought that too! But the name and the wording "Our spring clean..." is a bit odd since spring clean suggests clearing things away to make way for the new. I'd read someone mention in another thread that Daz do sometimes clear older content from the store so though that was maybe what was happening! Good if not though :)

I think the phrase is just another Marketing "Wording we hope convinces people to buy more stuff" Thing.

DAZ would have gotten more money out of me if they would have clearly announced the items they retired....

A 'Last chance to buy', two weeks before actually retiring stuff, woud be a nice thing...

These sales haven't been *that* compelling, but it's not holiday all the time. I'm not really expecting much before PC+ festival. We'll see! smiley

Poor Hexagon. It's a fun program, but it needs some TLC.

The words that come out of the marketing people at DAZ's keyboards only occasionally have any functional relationship to most of what's actually being offered.  One would think a Fashionista sale like they had earlier this week would be all about fancy clothing, for example, but there were no more clothing items than usual. As for the actual clearance of product selection... I'd say that about 90% of the time that a product is pulled from the store, it's because the PA that created it leaves and there's almost never any warning on that.  DAZ HAS pared out a bit of older DAZ Original product over the years, but there's generally been a "get it while you can" type promotion held whenever that happens.

spring cleaning means a mop and a bucket and windex

  • I was wondering why none of the "new" items had anything to do with spring, cleaning or much of anything else. On the other hand, My wife will be happy that I am not participating in this sale.

Retirees are very rare, perhaps exceptionally so; generally due to items being withdrawn by the seller from what I've seen.

..with the plethora of bus stops (and only one bus) this would be more appropriate.

Yes. I remember having quite a few Moyra texture sets in my wishlist...

It's a long standing request for Daz to put items on a clearly marked retirement sale before products (and especially even entire PA's) from the store. Quite often people have things on their wishlist, and by the time they do have the funds, it simply disappeared.

Usually needed right after a new version release of DAZ|Studio. Which is due any day now...
