Yeah. Google.
Google is the way I usually go about it. It works surprisingly well for this forum.
Might help.

no, just the search on the top right
I vote for Google as well. They spider threads and seem to always know what's here.
"search term" site:daz3d.com
...in Google
Yeah don't waste your time with the forum search function here. I'ts about useless.
Another
for Google. Been using it for years now.
Whenever I look for anything Daz related using Google, I usually type my query with daz at the end, such as 'rotating texture maps daz', 'tank top daz' etc. into the query. Sometimes I have to add studio or forum, i.e. type Daz Studio or daz forum, but daz usually works. It also gives results in other places of course, but if there's a thread or product here, it usually features prominently in the search'.
The search function here isn't very smart, at least the last time I tried using it, so you usually end up with a bunch of threads in your search that aren't really relevant to your query, plus it usually lists them in reverse chronological order, not by relevancy...
I have a small userscript that changes the default forum search to google. That way you can keep using the forum searchbox, you don't have to leave the site to search, but the results will be provided by google. Link in my signature.
You can use Google in the following manner: [keywords] site:daz3d.com/forums
Examples:
best render settings iray site:daz3d.com/forums
or sub forums:
best render settings iray site:daz3d.com/forums/categories/daz-studio-discussion

Or Bing. Or DuckDuckGo. Even asking an Ouiji Board is likely to give you better results than DAZ's built-in search.
