So NOW I need a kid

I quess I've never had any need for a child character before.  From eons ago, I recall that there was a simple slider to just dial that in, but not seeing that for any Genesis character. Really dates me I suppose so wondering what the options are these days.  Came across the "Growing Up" products:

But not seeing if there are any specifics for addin wardrobe & hair.  What other options might there be or is this route the best to go?

I made good experiences with the growing up for genesis 3 version, so I suspect the version for genesis 8 will work equally good, there were additional options for head correction and the base pose. Hair and clothes should be autofollow.

Biggest thing is that you would need a skin that's child adequate, and th'ts where it gets difficult, depending as well on the age you're going for. Of course there are som characters for teh younger ages (which i don't own, so no saying how good those look) for genesis 3 female I found Bethany skin to be working nicely on a kid

Good to hear.  Looks like the Growing Up product is the one to go with.  I like the Rendo options as well.  Thanks.

If you look up the heights, weights, arm, leg, and other 'average' range of children at various ages you could use the DAZ Originals Heads morphs and DAZ Originals Body morphs. You'd get an assist from those 4 products by using the DAZ Originals Measure Metrics. It's definately more work to do that than to buy premade products though the benefit you do get is you wind up with kids that more like the kid versions of the adults they are based off of. That may not be so important if you are just doing caricatures and a kid is a kid.

I've used the Growing Up morphs for Genesis 3 AND 8, and they work pretty well. The only catch is with things like the Belle Dress, where a large, long skirt could suffer some breakage. Same with super-long hair, but that's always been a thing (put Thian hair on a well-endowed woman. You'll see what I mean immediately). Mostly, though, that would depend on pose/mesh density, etc. 99.99% of pretty much anything should work, though.

For this particular shot, she (I think) would be pretty much in the BG so not going to get that much scrutiny. Looking for ~ 10 yrs old I think.  Just scaling the figures I have didn't quite look right.  Having the base product certainly couldn't hurt if do decide to get a specific character later on, which is highly possible.

Is it best to outfit the character first then apply the morphs, does it matter, or is it more a season-to-taste process?

For the record, Angel wings characters use the growing up morphs.

I'm impresed with the Angel wings characters. Normally children in DAZ are nightmare fuel

Zev0 has a couple of child figures which use his GrowingUp morphs.

The dial in child you are remembering is G1. It came with a morph which matched K4.

Not always. Even Kids4 had some decent morphs. But, agreed, most of them were very uncanny valley.

I would first create the character and then apply clothes but it should really work either way

Well I think it went quite swimmingly as some might say!  Had to convert some clothing & hair that I thought I'd already done, but this product just increased my character library several fold.

...Zev0 and Raiya released Growing Up Skin for G3F/M as a bundle  As I understand the base UV is the same so I imaging that would work. I primarily use Skin Builder 3 (and there is one for G8 [female only])
