I travel several times per year. Never assume that your TSA agent is in a good mood, has a sense of humor, or has friends even. They have the ability and are sanctioned to ruin your day with impunity.
Wash your feet and socks before you go to the airport. Regular use of a good anti-fungal will help keep the funk under control. And avoid using acronyms where the word "weapons" is one of the words.

I have a friend who once went on a business trip to the States wearing a "Rage Against The Machine" tee-shirt. His luggage was searched at the airport.
From personal experience, I can verify that US immigration had no sense of humour what so ever before 9/11. I expect they have even less now.
