    Empathise with that first one TJohn. I always argue that Cadbury fruit and nut chocolate counts as 3 towards the 5 a day thing, It has fruit, nuts and is made with cocoa beans,

    Plus it has milk in it, which is good for you

    I got a burger for dinner and I still have not eaten it. I want to eat it before going to bed, but I cannot eat it if I am in my room and it is in the kitchen.

    Back when I was in college, I sometimes took the bus from Princeton to NYC. When the bus hits Edison you are sometimes greeted with the smell of the refineries. One day on the bus we hit the smell and a child of about 3 piped up with "New Jersey!"

    ...then of course, there's "SmElll Segundo" in LA.


    The worst though are pulp mills. I used to live in central Wisconsin and he only "fresh" wind we'd get came directly out of the east.

    Oh yeah... Been treated to the aroma from the Bowater paper mill (when the wind is from the north) my entire life. My uncle who worked there for fifty years said it "smelled like money". The sulfur dioxide actually smells like rotten eggs. Especially nice when you are allergic to the smell, as I am. .

    I know a lot of you think we Brits are a bit weird but

    THe sewage works nearest to where I grew up sometimes opens for people to go on a guided tour. Has it's own website as well

    I grew up in Ponca, home of both Conoco and Cities Service (Citgo) refineries. The 'smell of money' was constant in all parts of town.

    But smelly pollution and dangerous pollution aren't the same thing. Nobody got sick in Ponca from the constant organic hydrocarbons in the air. The nearby town of Blackwell was entirely different. Blackwell's pollution was from a lead smelter. It had no aroma but it killed everything with remarkable efficiency. Plants, animals, humans. All died quickly in Blackwell.
