This looks fantastic. A great job, as always.

Since these wings are parented and not geographs, how difficult are they to work on G8M?

Parenting should not be a problem....but the feathers along the arm use dHair, and that will likely not be as easy to transfer.

  • I've been waiting for new bird talons for Genesis 8, because past ones for V4 have never worked properly for me. Unfortunately... due to current events, I can't purchase this right now. D; Wishlisted, though! <3

Also, any chance you'd ever make a character with bird/raptor talons for G8M? Since I know geografts are really weird and all and don't transfer properly.

man really good work rawart, awesome work and i would love to buy it "but", the current situation" with the c-v19 really is making impossible buy anything with the skyrocket $, another problem is that new "dforce" stuff(hair/fur/feather only dforce cloths are proper being exported outside daz to unreal) it really don't work outside daz at last for now i'm unable to use it in unreal whenever i try to transfer i just get a error mensage say which it can't be imported in unreal only dforce cloths works without any issue, this also can be a problem for me to buy it, but still a good work and i will try to keep watching over it in case i find a way to make it work.

    really keep the awesome job.

i’m guessing it’s done that way to prevent external editing/use by non-PAs, similar to how HD morphs can’t be exported via FBX nor reimported as OBJs as morphs even if they weren’t edited externally.

There is no conspiracy here....DAZ makes things for daz studio that work in daz studio....no one is trying to limit someones enjoyment, they are simply working for bettering their own software.  I made something using the tools in daz studio, and they work in daz studio, that really is all I can account for.

yeah i know that and i'm not trying to "bad mouth" or anything like that, because if was really that i would not want to buy it or not keep buying stuffs on daz, i'm just pointing out the "tool limitations", specially when while the focus still daz the fact which they "allow" you export and use stuffs outside daz and even for games is what make things a little troublesome which by no means is "artists fault or anything", but the way things are made for exemple like that new "dforce stuffs", they need to in a future not so far "improve or fix how it's work to allow "export outside daz" without any issue, that is the problem, or maybe someone later can make for "daz" or for unreal or both a 'pluging" to allow export those stuffs without any issue just time will tell, but for now as i told is just a little "problem" which maybe in future can be "fixed", i have a lot of stuff which i really would love to buy if not was for that new "tool" and i even tried to use then many times but never really worked making me have to refund then what made sad because i really loved and wanted to use, but whatever life keeping.

keep the good job and as aways i really love your works and looking for the new ones (well for now unfortunally just really "looking" until things get "normal again").

and i really hope that situations is not having any big bad effect on daz or daz artists.

Very nice Harpy, and I have been playing with it. Interesting choice to keep the hands (Four digits - !! smiley) and love the leg geografts.

Personally I prefer larger wing-arms and a no-hands look, but that's easy to fake with other wings and hiding the originals.

    Thanks, RawArt yes

I was contemplating the no hand look.....but in the end decided it would be move useful if she had hands of some sort, so she could grab things and such

Took her for a test run. This is with Harpy at 50% with 3DU's Toon Generation at 50%. The geograph feet are really good and she looks fantastic. My one nitpick with the wings is that I wish that their origin point for rotating/scaling was connected to the arm. I can fix that myself, but it's a bit tricky if you want to try to use them for more unusual morphs.

If you scale from the bones it should be fine

The individual wing parts show up as single objects and don't appear to have any bones.

She looks great thanks for making her

sorry...my bad....I was typing quick while I was passing the computer. I was trying to say there is a dial for making the feathers larger

Thanks for giving us a modern harpy, I've wanted one for a long time. I don't know whether the sales would warrant it, but if you come up with an expansion (say, tail feathers, a crest, or materials in the vein of what you did for other wing sets), I would be over the moon. Anyways, I'm going to use the heck out of the current model as is, so, again, thanks.

Or hell add morphs to that like different kinds of beaks.

Would someone who has this mind rendering the harpy parts on a non-white character?

Unfortunately, the way the character is done, the claws only work with the included skin unless you feel comfortable enough with an image editing software to play a bit with layers (shouldn't be that hard). Anyways, I tried to do something with the outstanding Fantasy Skins and came up with this quick render. Hope that helps!

Yes, the character was designed to use the skins that came with it. There were so many necessary details to include on the skins that made it infeasable for being able to be swapped with other characters.

While I really liked what you did with your last Gorgon pack and I would love to see the same versatility with other monstrous characters (maybe using LIE or geoshells), I understand that your creative process tends towards a more holistic approach rather than a modular one. I assure you I very much enjoy the harpy for what it is and the above comment was not meant as a criticism at all, just a desire to play around and show what could be done without too many headaches.

for me there should be something more special with the skin and hair

There are characters where I can add that kind of versitility, and some where the details just wont allow it, and that was the case with this one (as I said). I am currently working on another project where I am able to add that versitility without compromising the quality of the character. It is not about personal choice, it is about what the character can accomodate.

I am sorry, but I don't find anything constructive in your comment, care to elaborate?....you should know however the hair isn't included, you can choose whatever you like.

I respectfully disagree on it not being possible in this case, as the geograft could have ended with a full bird's leg material and the transition from bird to human been handled with a geoshell with an opacity mask. The arms, likewise, could have been done either with that same geoshell or with LIE overlays. Of course, I am talking from a technical standpoint on what I believe to be possible, not from the artist's point of view of what is better to reach the original vision, so please don't take this statement as an attack or criticism, and feel free to completely disregard what I am saying as coming from a neophyte who doesn't know what he's talking about (I am under the impression you have gone through this argument before, and nothing is further from my intentions than adding any stress to anyone under the current circumstances)). If I may say, I am very glad to hear about a new modular project, as I very much like to customize my monsters so that they are a bit unique.

  • RawArtRawArt Posts: 6,207

Yes...the argument comes up often...and yes, it is the artistic side that plays out against the technical.

  • Just a thought, and I honestly don't know if it could be feasible. Would it be possible to supply a .PNG or .PSD file with the scales necessary to modify someone's skin texture. Or an lie preset? Just floating the suggestion, and I have no idea if it is even possible.

  • RawArtRawArt Posts: 6,207

Sorry....that would be an entire different set of textures...it just doesnt work that way...believe me...I am not making things to be stubburn, I really do know what I am doing and try to put out the best possible sets that I can for everyone.
