Hi there,

Is there any way I can save a not finished render but afterwards alsonbe able to press resume and continue with it.

Where I am coming from is this:

I rendered a whole image. Now I want to overlay on a part of the image something else from the same environment. For example I want to change a characters position but I want to keep the rest of the render the same.

Because of this, I now only do a spot render to a new window so I will compose the images in Gimp afterwards.

Problem is the render is taking a long time and because it's not the best lit room, it needs around 25k iterations to complete.

I think that maybe I could get away with less but I am not sure. Because of this I would like to for example stop the render at 15k iterations, save the image and see if when I overlay it, a difference on the borders can be noticed. If it cannot all is great but if it can, I would like to resume the render and let more iterations pass.

My problem here is that once I save an image I cannot also resume as the render window closes. Any way for it not to do that?

Thanks

    Hi!

    Cancel the render, don't save/close the window. Get r.png from C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming \DAZ3D\Studio4\temp\render\r.png
    and then resume rendering.

r.png is what is rendered so far.

There is a much easier way built into Daz Studio, if yuou are using Iray.:

    1. Cancel the render, but don't close the window or save the render from the render window buttons.
    2. File>Save Last Render (not Save Last Draw!)
    3. Resume the render from the button on the render window.

You can also just File > Save Last Render without digging around for temp files.

Awesome! Thanks,  great for a workaround.

Exactly what I was looking for. Great!

I tried the temp version first before I saw your replies but this is easier and nicely available.

Hey thanks Barbult and Sevrin, didn't know that :) Much easier XD.

Alex86fire, still that path method is handy for recovering a possible ok render when the computer had shut down or crashed while rendering.

Yes, that was exactly what I was thinking. I had some blue screens recently and lost my render, this way I could recover it if it was good enough.
