Would it be possible to get light to emanate from an existing prop?

In this context, from my character's amulet. As the spell takes effect, a blue light emenates from the blue stone, showing my character the path to follow. I'm using the Asian necklace from the dForce Necklace Merchant Resource:
can a beam of blue light emanating from the center stone be simulated?
Thanks!

In illustration, Anything CAN be done, it's just a matter of how much effort is required. Assuming that the center stone has it's own texture zone and you're working in Iray, could just activate it's the emmissive properties in the surfaces tab.to make it glow. The chances are, though, that both jewels will save the same texture set, so the easiest trick would be to makke a seperate primative of the correct size, parent it on top of the jewell, add an emmisive light shader to it and then turn the cutout opacity ot something like 0.05%, in which case the primative will be effectively invisible but still cast enough light to create the glowing effect. If you want an actual beam of light emitting frmo the jewell, you can do the same thing with a cylinder or cone primative, but only turn the opacity down to around 15%... If you want a volumetric light scattering effect on the beam, the easisest route is to use Kindred Art's latest Ghost Light 3 package. .
I can live with the whole amulet glowing in the dark! :)
