What is generally the process to creating a Gen 8 character variant?

On 3rd party Daz Studio shops, there's a lot of really great 1:1 replicas of characters and famous people that are Gen 8 morphs. Some, suprisingly, are 1:1 Overwatch Gen 8 charcters (I won't link because I think it's copyrighted work and that's agaisnt the rules, but you can probably google it), which blew my mind. How is it possible that someone is basically able to recreate the real thing? Are they somehow "tracing" the character or even porting it over using software?

Basically, what is the general step by step process for making such characters, espcially creating character textures? Appreciate any info in this regard.

Well your best bet is to learn Blender then after you spend about 6 months learning to box model (that's a modeling method, not an object you're modeling) go on to modeling realistic people if you have an artist's eye. You can be a technically great modeler in blender but not have an artist eye for accurately modeling 3D objects in the real world. That' needn't stop you from being artistic though. You can sculpt in Blender and no doubt those Blender sculpting capabilities are only going to improve.

Search YouTube for Blender 2.8 beginner modeling tutorials & then Blender realistic human modeling tutorials. CGCookie.com is a good paid resource that isn't extremely expensive either.

people can be GOOD at making replicas. Here's samuel l jackson https://texturing.xyz/pages/vanni-brighella-making-of-samuel-lee-jackson

if artists can do that for real people, cartoons should be no problem
