Settings missing from the edit tab?

So I was watching a tutorial by "Thundorn Games" on how to make a clothing item adhere to a model and he went to edit-object-deometry while having the clothing item selected in the scene tab so I did the same but my edit setting end at object, there is no geometry there, so what am I doing wrong?

Try Window > Workspace > Update and Merge Menus
