Search function in content library no longer functions properly

It was working fine, then...not sure what I did but any search in the content library (e.g. G8, staff, sword, heels, etc) comes up blank.
While genuine DAZ content is easy to locate in the smart content pane, locating third party poses/wardrobe/props in the content library is much quicker with the search function. I really need it to work, is there a fix, or must I reinstall Daz studio?

So there are entries there with the filter field blank, just not when you enter something?
It ever worked for 3rd party stuff? It's never worked for me.
The Content Library search is just going by files on disc, more limited than that in Smart Content but doesn't (as far as I ama ware) depend on metadata.
I enter for instance "staff" or "sword" and it used to locate files, or I'd enter Victoria or G* and it used to locate poses with "Victoria" or "G8" inthe content library. not sure why it stopped working
Bear with me, my terminology might not be exact ;) and I'm a noob so...
I asked this on the technical help forum but really found no solution, so..I'll ask again here. I used to rely on the content library search function to quickly locate props and poses ,(Daz & 3rd party included) sometimes by simply typing "G8M", G8F", ."heels", "sword" etc. you get the idea, and then clicking on the magnifying glass icon, and the props or poses would populate the side column, in large icons.
A few weeks ago, I'm not sure what icon I accidentally clicked on, but the content library's search function stopped working. I would type a word in the search pane and click the magnifying glass icon, but nothing would pop up. I kind of fixed it by using the "find DAZ content" in the Windows drop down menu...now I can locate some of the props and some of the poses, but it's not as complete as it used to be, and the icons are so small they're hard to read.
The content is still there if I go through the left column menu and go folder by folder, which is mighty long. Getting that search function to work properly again would help a great deal...
Any fixes? Should I simply reinstall Daz Studio to overwrite whatever mistake I made?
Next to the magnifying glass icon, does it show a folder icon or an icon that looks more like a stack of discs or a cilinder?
The stack of discs icon finds stuff pretty fast, while the folder icon may take quite a bit longer before even the first result pops up, but also find entirely different things.
Yeah, that's what I've been using, it finds some of the stuff, but not all of it like it used to- I guess the folder icon stopped working? The tiny icons are a pain to work with too, I wish there was a way to restore them to the previosu size...one the other hand, smart content works great (but only with Daz purchased products) !

The folder icon finds keywords based on file names, the cilynder finds keywords based on metadata in smart content.

Finds stuff based on product name and/or keywords you create :) Although it's not tied to DS so doesn't load items you select, but it helps finding what products items are in to locate them in the A-Z product Library list which, if you use the Content Package Assistant ( https://www.daz3d.com/content-package-assist ) to install 3rd party products through DIM, then it helps a great deal.
Understood, but the fact remains that using the search function (in the content library, enter search word, click the magnifying glass) used to work fine; regardless of whether I used the Cylinder icon or the folder icon. Since first posting the problem, it hasn't worked at all using the folder icon and only partially working using the Cylinder icon. Heck even using the cylinder icon, just a few days ago I could search "hay" or "bale" and quickly locate the bale of hay prop quickly. This morning, no way José...
So if anyone knows of a fix or of a setting to re-enable to restore the search function so it works the way it used to, it would be much appreciated :)
