interactive license, model assembly and rigging
in The Commons
Hello! I have a question here, because i have a big doubt about interactive license.
I explain my case, i'm a cg rigger and technical director. I would like to sell characters rigged with my personnal tool on markets.
Problem is as a rigger we are always looking for good models to rig and daz has a nice library.
Is it possible to sell my rigs if the model is a mix of some daz assets bought with interactive licenses?
Let say if i buy a character, then some cloth, and props, a weapon etc to build my own character that is not referenced in daz shop, can i sell my rig on market using interactive license?
Thanks for reading!

No, you're not allowed to do that, even with interactive license.
You need to contact DAZ directly on this - https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
I suspect it wouldn't be allowed but you need to talk with them directly. Depending on circumstances, they might make a special deal with you.
Interactive licences specifically mention that the "User may not in any case: publish, market, distribute, transfer, sell or sublicense any renderings, animations, software applications, data or any other product from which any CRT Content, or any part thereof, or any substantially similar version of the CRT Content can be separately exported, extracted, or de-compiled into any re-distributable form or format".
What you wish to do is in breach of that - you would be providing something that is a substantially similar part of the content in a re-distributable format.
Short answer: No, you may not do that.
@ Crescent: yes, i sent a ticket to them to see what i can do exactly, just to clarify things. Thank you for the link!
@ Matt_Castle: yes i know this part, but when people do video games that contains daz assets and sell it they got no problem if they have interactive as i see somewhere in other forum so that's why i'm asking.
Yep, so the answer is definitevely NO :)! for people will find this topic and ask for the same. Interactive doesn't support rights use, and no exclusive rights. Even the model is not referenced in the shop, the problem is not the model, it's the data itself. The Eula is very strict, we can't even contact Artist for a 50/50 sell....
The interactive is just here to say that you can have a model in your data if is protected and not accessible by end user, just for a tiny openning to games industry and for now we don't have exclusive right models platform here so.
So won't spend money here, that's a pity ^^, useless for buisness.
Thank's everybody for answers! Be creative, some nice designs here!
Cheers!
