Graphic Novel/Comic series made with DS?

Hello,
I've taken an interest in Graphic Novel/Comic creation using DS, and did some searching for some created this way. Couldn't find any, or at least not any that I could identify as using DS in their workflow.

Can anyone point me to some examples? Would love to check them out.

Thanks!

  • Try searching: Comics made with Daz Studio. There's a bunch out there. There's also a thread in here and some courses in the store. I'll recommend learning the process for comic creation first. Concepting, writing, storyboard, layout, etc. you can skip the drawing/inkin/coloring part, to an extent. Then figure out how to make the images you want in DS. https://www.daz3d.com/comic-book-creation--foundation-course-part-1 https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/228061/3d-comic-book-tips-and-pictures

    Thanks, DrunkMonkey...

I've tried that search (and similar), and only come back with videos and tutorials on how to create comics with DS. That's something I'm also interested in, so that's helpful. But for now I'm mainly looking for comics that have been made using DS in their workflow. The only one I've come across so far is called Black Sun (and is pretty awesome from what I've seen).

    Beyond that, though.. No dice.

So, was just curious if anyone around here knew of any specifically.

    Thanks!

this is the reason i love daz so much. you just get so much resources for visual novels and game making and saves you so much time (and hiring artists)

  • Well I'm too lazy for doing Graphic Novel, more when I tend to do big size screen for each frame of history.

I have a lot of unfinished stories due to time invested in them.

  • I would suggest just picking up a comic book and looking at how they are put together. Then decide what kind of story really gets you going. If you are not invested in the story or if you don't care about your main charcter and the villian you will not be happy with your graphic novel. The first thing you need to do is create a story on a word processor or go old school and use pencil and paper. I would go into this in detail but you can learn this on your own: I suggest either youtube or a community college. Now story board your ideas and figure out what assets you need to dress out your characters and enviroments: I suggest using as much free assets as possible!!! For your comic creation tools you will need a program like adobe photoshop or GIMP to edit and crop your photos. You can use Daz studio, Poser or Blender to create your photo renders, but to keep things simple I use Daz studio and I use OpenGL for my render engine because it uses almost no resources (An old computer or laptop that cannot game can render OpenGL) and it is super FAST!!!!  Next I use a program from plasq called comic life. This will make your life easier by making your comic for you by having the formated comic templates premade for you. You just drag and drop content and text and you have yourself a comic ready for publishing. Good luck.

  • Nathanomir has one that he started a few years back Called Valkyrie. I don't have the link handy, so you'll have to search for it; also, it's got some mature content (mostly nudity at the moment), so it's got an age check on the site. Images are rendered in DAZ Studio and assembled in Comic Life.
  • I did some, but they are written in German. My english is not good enough for translating.

    You find them here https://peterspohn.de/blog

    and here: https://peterspohn.de/kiosk/

More will follow in the next time.

    Hi all,

Some great feedback and links here!

I'm actually doing something that was recommended here; checking out comic series. I'm looking at one of my all-time favorite series again, ElfQuest. Always loved the art and writing in that. So I think that's a good one for me to look at to get an idea of how to proceed... while not copying them of course lol.

    Thanks!

there are tons of (nsfw) comics done with daz and poser on the website called tgcomics.

they are focusing on men transforming into women comics.

I will not post a link, after it's nsfw, but you find it easliy if you search for that page.

In terms of render quality, take a look at the artists surody, emory ahlberg and stger.

Was going to say the same. Linwelly puts a lot of love and work into her project.

I make my comics using Daz.  They may not be the genre that you are looking for, but you can see some examples on my website.  Pretty commonly done.  Most people I know that do it letter the comics using Comic Life 3
