I'm just curious if this suit, or something like it would be of any interest to anyone if it were rigged for G8F. Any feedback or suggestions is appreciated, thanks.

Looks pretty cool! Personally I would wish for the heels to be a wedge instead of actual heels, but not flat, keep the height. I would also like the ability to lose the headgear, like a helmet to be on or off. Also lots of material zones so you can play with different materials and opacities for more versatility.
Thank you, those are all excellent suggestions! And yeah I would definitely make the helmet separate and a lot of material zones available.
Wow, I was thinking the exact same things, even about changing the heels into some kind of wedge. Maybe from a relatively wide heel narrowing into a really thin wedge between the heel and the ball of the foot, to make it more interesting as a shape, but the heels right now are a bit too blocky compared to the very fluid and organic design of the rest of the suit.
I'd like to see slightly lower wedges rather than heels. Would be nice if the forhead was modeled to support a clear vewport, maybe with a balaclava to "cover" the hair. And regions we can use emiters on. And standard options like removable helmet and gloves.
Please, no high heels.
It would be awesome if the heels were switchable or there were options; some people hate them, some loathe them.
I don't know how feasible it is, I don't do clothes...
Otherwise it looks really neat!
Looks really great, lots of detail.
I would do away with the heels as well.
Flat feet make the legs look shorter and the feet look longer... which isn't exactly something desired in an elegant/feminine look...
If its an armor suit could it have either have a weapon built in or a holster/ammo clips attached? When I render that sort of thing I like if it is look like some thought went into as a practical device.
Thank all of you so much for offering feedback! I'll definitely keep the heels suggestions in mind and try to make them an option or simply remove them/replace with wedges. As far as the visor/viewport, it would be a separate material zone so I may either make a clear material as an option, or you could just lower the opacity and make it appear as clear. Gloves also would be a separate material zone so you could remove them like the helmet. Same thing with the footwear.
I'll have to look into maybe doing something that would include weapons/ammo, I hadn't really considered it until now but that might be a really cool option with the suit.
@Luciel yes that's exactly my thoughts... giving length to the legs is often desirable for a lot of people. It adds to both the femininity/elegance, and also the height is more domineering or fierce but I guess the thinner heels take away from that formidable appearance somewhat too.
Absolutely beautiful and would be very interested! Lots of material zones and rigid nodes where things should be rigid. And a slightly lower wedge would be awesome!
@melissastjames Hey Melissa, it's me CarlCG (from deviant) your biggest fan :)! Thanks so much for the response on this. It's funny I was going through the forum here earlier, and was going to send you a message on DA about how incredibly helpful and creative all your comments are. You have sooo many unbelievably awesome ideas that I never would have thought of, I've seen them in so many of your responses here. Hearing that you like my creation btw is really a great feeling, as you know I'm a bit obsessed with your work lol.
Awww, that means so much! And yes, this is gorgeous! You know I like my female characters to be beautiful and fully clothed and this would be totally pefect for a badass Sithy lady (*as I eye the dark color combination in the center*). I don't think we could have enough of suits built like this...finding something so perfect without stilletos is icing on the cake! This would go into my collection right next to the ones put out by @midnight_stories.
Elegant isn't a priority in that suit.
I vote with my wallet on items such as this with heels: I don't buy.
Others, however do buy.
See i'm the opposite, I would never buy flat shoes, as I hate how they look.
Flat shoes generally look terrible, make the figure have clunky looking feet and commit the worst crime of all in any fantastical setting, being visually boring.
Also, all the best Gundams/Mechas have heels.
the suit looks great! very cool.
add me to the list of people who don't go for SF outfits with high heels, though. a no-heels option there would be a real plus.
:)

It's a long-standing debate, and it will always be...but I'm on the side of practicality. Stilletos on warrior women, whether it be medieval or sci-fi, throws me right out of whatever I'm trying to look at. That's all I can see, and I can't bring myself to enjoy it. And then I picture myself trying to walk in my own driveway in heels...and failing. Heels in combat = NO. Heels in combat = broken ankle/leg/death.
And a moderate/capable heel/wedge can totally look badass and sexy at the same time.
It's a fantastical technologically advanced setting. There's a billion ways a futuristic person could deal with wearing low heels. Think about highly advanced neuro somethings with hyper balance somethings, hover boots, flight, low gravity, etc etc etc etc etc. In fun combat the heels wouldn't even touch the ground.
I always go on the side of "fantastical", "fun" and aesthetically unhindered in a fantasy setting. We aren't held back by perceived "impracticalities" or "difficulties" of "practical living" in fantastical settings, so why slavishly adhere to them when we don't have to? I'd take lazer swords and "over the top" clothing over hyper realism made to current technological limited millitary expert battle approved bore wear every time, because it's simply more fun.
Now, one strange thing I always see here is everyone calling everything "stillettos". A stiletto heel is thinner than 1cm (0.4"), and (usually) much taller than these. These are actually fairly short and chunky, and wouldn't be problematic to walk in at all (i've worn ones probably 4/5x the height, easily, never fallen or broken ankles once
).
Well, my opinion differs in that yes we can hand wave away everything as "technology", but I don't want to imagine a world where a woman is only sexy as defined by how high of heels she is wearing. But again, that's just me. I know "sex sells" is a big thing in the fantasy genre, but there are more and more folks showing up in that space like me, who want to see women looking badass and sexy all while doing it fully clothed in practicality. It may be boring or frumpish or ugly for some, but it's totally not for me. And that goes for men too.
And I'm not damning all heels...just heels that would hinder balance and make any sort of combat scenario feel quite unreasonable to imagine. Like for example, the heels pictured below...and I think they make that outfit way better than any other type of heel would -
Granted, she's not even 1/4 naked, but I think that outfit is pretty damn sexy.
And I believe when we say "stilletos" in this sense, it's more of an umbrella of exaggeration with the whole "sex sells" theme in fantasy. Exactly like when I say "battle bikini" or "battle butt floss". Regarding the OP's armor set heels, those are fine...I just would far prefer them as wedges as I think they would look better aesthetically.
Lastly, as I've said before in other related conversations...I enjoy Red Sonja as much as any child of the 80's does and should...but that's just not the sort of art I'm interested in viewing or making in 2020...not because of any puritanical American stereotype regarding sex (I write pretty graphic erotica), but because that's just not what I find sexy anymore. For both men and women.
Merciful Mogg on the Moon! The answer is so #%&*%#$ obvious!
OFFER BOTH!!!
I'd gladly pay a couple extra dollars for PA's to offer both reasonable feetsies and fantastical heels so that everybody could have their cake and eat it too. Because who wants to watch someone else eat cake when you have no cake. (I want cake.)
absolutely.
I'd buy this. I would LOVE the option to have either flat or heeled options. I think that would be a real winner if it doesn't add too much work that offsets the return on effort.
I agree with all the comments on material zones and an option for visor alternates to include clear. And definitely need to be able to remove/hide the helmet - I'd like to be able to have the helmet as a prop for under arm, or on a table, on the ground, etc.
That said, it is a sure bet sale for me! Nice work! Keep going!!!
[Edit] To be clear - I'll buy it with or without flats, with or without heels. It would be nice to be able to choose either, but I can kit-bash if needed.
Hurry up and take my money!
That's for the designer to decide, not for you. Whether you like the result is another thing. I have a dozen non-heeled sci-fi combat boots in my content list, that I rarely use. And then there's the flat slippers, of which I have even more, and which I never use at all. Overall, I'd prefer if designers included both flats and heels, just to get rid of this silly recurring discussion.
+ kill the heels! Or, add morph to allow conversion to normal combat boot sole, or shorter solid wedge heels.
Love to see the option in outfit products, because there are definitely two camps as it appears. Have an outfit morph and a pose preset and you should be good.
Sorry, but that's just utter nonsense. There's a vocal minority at best, whining every time there's a sci-fi outfit with heels.
People who don't care whether a sci-fi outfit has high heels or not won't complain either way.
People who have a use for sci-fi outfits with heels *will* have use for sci-fi outfits without heels as well, so they won't complain when sci-fi outfits without heels are added to the store. Besides, these people at least seem capable enough to kitbash some shoes or boots from another outfit into the equation should they feel inclined.
Did you see a complaint about todays' Mercury Ranger outfit by midnight_stories about the lack of heels? Or for any of his previous sci-fi bodysuits for that matter? Even though those bodysuits are *all* designed to look sexy and none of them are realistic in any way, and heels certainly wouldn't look out of place on them? No, there's no complaints, because those who like heels can work with it either way. Sometimes they'll use the outfit without heels, other times they'll add them from another outfit. They're NOT trying to reduce creativity of others. YOU ARE. Trying to get some style removed from the Daz store is as ridiculous as vegans trying to stop meat from being sold in a supermarket. And yes, I know there are plenty vegans who are trying to force their own beliefs unto others. And that's exactly what you're doing with every complaint about heels on sci-fi outfits: attempting to force your petty beliefs onto others.
Gladly, people do vote with their wallets, and, quite obviously, heeled sci-fi outfits still sell pretty well.
The mercury_ranger outfit? Oh, I haven't decided whether I'll buy it yet. Probably not for a long while, maybe once the price tanks to 8 dollars or something. It's pretty similar to his previous ones, and it doesn't come with a nice pair of heels, which would be a MAJOR selling point by now, since a nice pair of heels on this outfit could've combined very nicely with his previous outfits. But as it is now, it's just another outfit too similar to his previous ones, without any real draw to it. No need to go whine on his post for the outfit though, I'll just wait for the next sci-fi outfit, and hope it's better.
I vote with my wallet too and prefer high heels, whether stiletto or wedge. The higher the better, I create mostly sexy images. Any sci-fi image is by its nature fantasy, no need for realism, the more fantastical, imaginative and creative, the better, I say!
What would be cool though, for something like this, would be an extra layer wedge that serves as gravity magnets or whatever it's called, so the people who wear the boots can regulate their gravity wherever they are. Maybe have small suction cups or some kind of sculpted extra layer at the bottom of the sole...
I buy sci-fi products for their beauty, design, and originality, purely aesthetic appearances, not practicality. And this looks awesome. Definitely would like a separate helmet and maybe even some other creative attachments we have not seen yet, something completely new, and imaginative and outside the box in addition to what you already have. Looking forward to seeing it in the store!
